You have a guy like Burns playing in the slot...which is fine...because you have Perkins playing Nickel/SAM. Beat in coverage shouldn't mean, "they caught a pass on him". That happens.

Dbs will be fine.

The DBs will eventually be an issue and a liability at some point...I've seen enough to know this.

The DB’s did not struggle ALL night! Like the OP said, a few mistakes were made that can be corrected

The blown assignments can be corrected, the DBs struggled in pass coverage for most the game. Denver made good tackles and competed in coverage which he will continue to get better at.

Burns struggled in coverage part of that is he was put in a bad situation to cover Luke Hasz, the tight end for Arkansas. The RPOs were due to poor assignments by DBs. The pass coverage was not good especially in the second half.

most of you need to relax with your catastrophe syndrome. The season is still early and we have time to improve

It is not catastrophe syndrome to say a fact that the DBs struggled most the night in pass coverage when that was in fact the case. Now part of that is play calling and the other part is personnel but the fact remains. Also I have already said in other threads how there are correctable mistakes to have a better defensive output and even just playing Womack and Jefferson more could lead to better production.

You don't give up 28 points in 5/7 possessions and not struggle, with the only stops being at the end of the fist half when they got the ball with 30 seconds and the last play of the game.

Linebackers and safeties are atrocious in coverage. Not sure why House couldn’t adjust and put a corner on their tight end. Burns and Penn got abused

Funny i posted Penn was terrible and some yo-yo replies Penn had a fine game and was around the ball all night. I told him the only time i saw Penn was getting torched in coverage.

Burns play at safety was terrible in coverage of TE, wasn’t LBs assignment on those TE wide open plays, safety is last line of defense not LBs

I agree with everything you said. Need to give some credit to KJ and their receivers. Arky will finish strong. They'll beat the faggies in Jerry World

Daniels was fine. I think several times the wr was either interfered with or stumbled out of their breaks. He wasn’t as bad as I thought live.

You are killing me!! The guy was SEC Player of the Week, and you’re saying he wasn’t as bad as you thought.

but it was our linebackers who were nonexistent in coverage and run support all night.

I was curious what our run defense calls were as I was astounded to see Ark OL push our front 7 back 3-5 yds each play in the 3rd and 4th qtrs. The only one I saw hold his ground was JJ99.

Has anyone taught Mason any moves (swim, pinwheel, etc.).? He Bull rushes and they double team him. I realize he’s probably nor truly 100%, but shite, mix it up and the OL won’t know what to expect

biggest issue I have is with the DE's crashing inside and giving up containment

Staying in your lane and not chasing the ball is the hardest thing for a DL to learn and the easiest to forget. Giving up containment happens all the time, including the NFL.

Dbs really only had one maybe two blown assignments.

You say this like it’s ok.
One can cost you the game and one is unacceptable at LSU.

I saw they didn't know the rules of the punt crossing the endzone which is discouraging.

Of all the petty things to bitch about, this might be the pettiest.

It was a nearly impossible play and they almost made it. The ball took a bad bounce and we weren’t able to down it before it crossed the plane. How you could possibly twist that into being “discouraging” is beyond me.

Gregg Penn was bad in both,

If Penn is in on 3rd down and not blitzing, that's on coaching. Penn is a big time coverage liability and you can damn well bet Kiffin is going to be scheming to get he and or Perkins into coverage every chance he gets.

That said, I believe Penn is the most improved player on the defensive side of the ball, and its not even close. He went from slow and out of position to being our best run stop linebacker and on top of the ball just about every play. Totally different player this year.
