if that's a gift by the Mercedes dealership via NIL, then ok.
But if she bought that with her own NIL cash, she'd be MUCH better off buying a used Camry and keeping that other $80k in her pocket.
As noted above, I guessing it wasn't a gift but it was deeply discounted in return for the Instagram post. And, in her world as an influencer, having a sleek Mercedes instead of a Camry is probably worth something. Net-net, it's probably equivalent (from a financial point of view) for Angel Reese to buy that Mercedes as it would be for Jacquelin Roy to use part of his signing bonus to buy a Camry. The world is different now.

she has awesome taste that car is absolutely fine!

quote:yes, the world is different, but I don't think Reese can count on that money much longer. Once she gets to the WNBA, I'm not sure that money will continue as endorsements. NIL is now used to prevent players from jumping to other schools. Pro leagues have contracts that prevent that, so I don't know how her endorsements will hold up in the future. I mean, does ANYONE watch or care about the WNBA?

I'd save as much of that NIL as I could (although I do agree with you that she probably got that car at a deep discount from Mercedes).

Good for her but how many more people does Gordon have to sue to pay for it…lol

That’s awesome for her. Glad she’s at LSU

True dat & approx. $14,000 in sales tax for a normal customer
She should get H&R Block to file, and pay, her taxes.

Not in salary, no, but her endorsement income isn’t going to just suddenly disappear when she goes to the WNBA. The salary just will be a small portion of her overall earnings, so there’s no need for her to rush to turn pro
Companies actually care what they spend their endorsement money on. Comparing LSU to any WNBA team is a joke. No one cares about the WNBA. It wouldn’t even exist if the NBA did not pay for it. So while yes……..top WNBA players probably make something from endorsements, they are not doing what Angel is doing right now. Again she will probably make more this 3 years at LSU with NIL, than she would have without it in her entire basketball career.

You’re a fool if you believe this. She will make even more from NIL (endorsements) once she enters the WNBA. If she plays 15-20 years, like most stars in the WNBA, her money made at LSU will pale in comparison. Candace Parker makes $5.5 million per year from NIL. That easily beats what Angel is making.

Meh should have got the G Wagon.

She won’t if Sue Bird has her way. She will be playing against Trans and they will destroy all her records and future stats

Things I can tell you about Candace Parker- She is one of the top players in the history of Women’s basketball. She has done a lot of Broadcasting work the last several years. She was awesome when she played for Tennessee.
Things I can’t tell you about Candace Parker - the WNBA team or teams she has played for.
Also comparing Angel to her and acting like Candace has had a normal career is silly.

The original op said to name one, I named three. I can easily name a dozen more. I don’t know teams they play on either nor do I watch the WNBA but I know they’re all making big money on NIL because they’re on commercials everywhere.

Right there with you boys…started with a ‘74 VW Thing, $2,995 new out the door & didn’t have enough power to pull your cap off your head.
But it was a convertible so the chicks dug it…

Part of NIL deal
As I said, I found it hard to believe she paid for this electric car herself. Of course she could have, but there are better options out there. This just isn’t that great of a car for the lofty price. I’m glad there are lots of chargers around campus though.
