I'm all for expanding the student section to the south endzone as well and forcing all visitors into the upper decks, like they do us in their stadium.
all SEC schools I've been to (all but USC, Kentucky, & Arkansas) have a lower level visitor section and upper deck section, just like LSU.

But the students are the ones who give Death Valley its reputation
no, death valley got its reputation in the late 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s ... the entire place rocked .. not just the student section ... in fact, the most notable rep tiger stadium had was/is south end zone goal line stands .. and that is not the student section ... tiger stadium has slowly slid compared to those days and its reputation is a bit overblown now .. i will give you the fact that the students make the most noise in the place now .. but it is not the students that give it the reputation .. you are just propping up an overblown one ... but you guys do a good job ...

a very small percentage of students going to LSU pay out of their own pockets for school .. grants, schollys, TOPS, mom & dad, etc. tote the majority of that freight .. and for even the ones that do pay out of pocket .. your measley semester tuition pales in comparison to the everyday bills that the average joe pays that comprises 85% of the attendance in the stadium ... these people also contribute on average an arse ton of $$$ to LSU to keep the departement going .. outside of your paltry season ticket payment .. students really aren't doing anything $$$-wise for LSU to warrant better seating ..

I have nothing against alums coming to games. Its a very good sign that a university can keep their graduates invested both financially and emotionally in its well being, and I also plan on giving back to LSU when I'm gone. Even though my full tuition is covered (I am from out of state), I'll still have plenty of debt when I graduate. As a matter of fact, the majority of college students will graduate with thousands of dollars in debt in THEIR name to be paid off. Its no "measly" expense to go to college. There is tuition for those not lucky enough to get a scholarship, loads of fees that won't be taken care of with the scholarships, plus the same bills being paid by the "average joe". Just like you I have rent and bills to pay, as well as food to buy and a car to maintain. If you have such atrocious living expenses then maybe you should stop spending so much on football and watch the game at home with friends like so many other Tiger fans. And thank you, I do enjoy going to all the games as a student, I actually love it! But, unlike some people who have never managed to let go of their brief time in college, I'm capable of letting the students after me have their 4 years (and decent seats) in Death Valley.

I went to LSU for 8 years .. got an undergrad and two post grad degrees while working and paid every dime myself .. fricking tuition is nothing if you earn it and not sit on your arse until 11AM .. the real world is NO comparison .. I wouldn't comment on it until you've done both ..

nobody has time to field your problems. we all went to school too nerd. the student section is what it is. why should the school teach about free enterprise and then restrict it?
WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA? punk.

I'm a huge proponent of the SS, but spare me the "if it weren't for us there wouldn't be an LSU"

Without students there would be no LSU. It holds true for whenever you attended and for now. My only point here is that its a shame that there are current students who can afford to and have the desire to go to home games, but can't because the student section hasn't expanded with the greater enrollment. I'm also not slinging insults around or making assumptions about your life, maybe you can do the same.

You really don't want to get into this with me...
You realize the SS has only neared its actual capacity for 4 games in the last 4 years?
This is from '05 and '06, when LSU had higher enrollment numbers than it does today.

I do realize this because I'm very happy that the ticket office is starting to get stricter on season tickets for students. Hopefully in the next couple of years the ones who buy tickets and then have them sit in their inbox will lose the privlege to incoming or rising sophomore students who will go to every game. It sucks seeing students buy them just to turn a (major) profit, even though that practice probably won't die even after hell freezes over.

Already happened. A student had to go to at least 3 home games last year to request tickets this year.
Face it, LSU has the best student ticketing system in the country and it isn't even close.

I would just as soon keep the students where they are. However, the idea of putting the visitors upstairs has appeal.

Fresno State 06
Ah that was a fun game in the Hurrican that night, it rained so freaking hard and student section was rocking while no one was in the stadium.

what's this greater enrollment you are talking about ?? LSU's enrollment hasn't changed much in 30 years ... There are many games where there are holes of empty seats in the SS and unless it is a major SEC game it thins out at halftime .. don't hurt your arm patting yourself on the back too hard ..
Posted on 7/20/10 at 7:14 am to Golfer
LSU's student ticket system is outstanding .. and it is a priviledge for a student to attend games .. not a right ..

Uh...I know....I'm talking about the exact same thing you are. But it will take at least a season for much change to be seen, with the bumping of priorities and all.
