Oh lord, I'll bite too....

Haha I guess the rich people you know are much nicer than the ones I know
I can't wait to find out that some rich UM alum is just flying his jet around to screw with the heads of LSU fans...

Maybe I'm just being optimistic because I've always liked Miles, but couldn't it have been emotional for him because he's staying? This is probably the last chance he'll get to move over to his alma mater but its happening right when he's staring down another NC or BCS bowl at LSU. So maybe he really is staying, but he's understandably upset that the UM job had to come along at a point in the LSU program when he couldn't leave and feel good about it?

I was at the Les Miles Show at the Anatole tonight, it his hair is NOWHERE near as bad looking in person. More of a darkish brown color, no red hue from where I was standing or in the pictures I took.

What halftime show are they doing?

I think they're doing the same one they did at the UNC game and two or three of the home games, the Led Zeppelin show

Oh god, I don't think I can handle seeing that on Jerry's HD screen on Friday. Please make it stop Les!

I'm pretty sure that's where the LSU Dallas Alum group is hosting their watching party on Friday as well. I think they're expecting a huge turnout.

re: Cotton Bowl Tailgate Pass

Posted by snapefan246 on 12/29/10 at 7:13 pm to
You just buy a regular parking pass for one of the lots where tailgating is allowed (there should be a list on the Cotton Bowl site). The only parking spots you can tailgate at are on the perimeter of each lot, where there's grass behind the car. Apparently they are really strict about having anything on the pavement etc

How bad was traffic as you got close to the stadium? I'll be driving in from Dallas around 7, 7:30 am and don't expect open road, but I'm curious if it was already gridlocked that early...

Uh...I know....I'm talking about the exact same thing you are. But it will take at least a season for much change to be seen, with the bumping of priorities and all.
I do realize this because I'm very happy that the ticket office is starting to get stricter on season tickets for students. Hopefully in the next couple of years the ones who buy tickets and then have them sit in their inbox will lose the privlege to incoming or rising sophomore students who will go to every game. It sucks seeing students buy them just to turn a (major) profit, even though that practice probably won't die even after hell freezes over.

Very glad I was poking around Tiger Droppings tonight. I haven't heard of the new brew until now, but I will definitely be going out and getting some asap! Great idea from Abita, hope it raises some substantial $$$

GeauxZone is right as far as I know. When I was a freshman you entered a raffle to win either a "purple" or "gold" ticket package. Each had half the home games and one of the big matchups; I think you could specify which of the two you preferred. The ticket office sends out e-mails well in advance too.

Without students there would be no LSU. It holds true for whenever you attended and for now. My only point here is that its a shame that there are current students who can afford to and have the desire to go to home games, but can't because the student section hasn't expanded with the greater enrollment. I'm also not slinging insults around or making assumptions about your life, maybe you can do the same.

You'll get the ticket. I haven't heard of many people requesting them. I asked for two and got both, there just isn't a lot of interest for some reason.
I have nothing against alums coming to games. Its a very good sign that a university can keep their graduates invested both financially and emotionally in its well being, and I also plan on giving back to LSU when I'm gone. Even though my full tuition is covered (I am from out of state), I'll still have plenty of debt when I graduate. As a matter of fact, the majority of college students will graduate with thousands of dollars in debt in THEIR name to be paid off. Its no "measly" expense to go to college. There is tuition for those not lucky enough to get a scholarship, loads of fees that won't be taken care of with the scholarships, plus the same bills being paid by the "average joe". Just like you I have rent and bills to pay, as well as food to buy and a car to maintain. If you have such atrocious living expenses then maybe you should stop spending so much on football and watch the game at home with friends like so many other Tiger fans. And thank you, I do enjoy going to all the games as a student, I actually love it! But, unlike some people who have never managed to let go of their brief time in college, I'm capable of letting the students after me have their 4 years (and decent seats) in Death Valley.

the rumored game is not exclusive to the season opener as well.

I think it would be a season opener only deal. The start of season game held at Cowboys Stadium is the same idea as the Georgia Dome game we're playing in this year...as far as I'm aware, the only other college football game in Arlington is the "Cotton Bowl". Not to say that Jerry wouldn't like to see many more there, but I don't believe there are any other deals as of now.
quote:

agree, but LSU wants $$$$$ and noise doesn't generate $$$$$ in their eyes.

But the students are the ones who give Death Valley its reputation, and the school gets a lot of attention for its game day environment. Also, it would be a real shame to move students to the upper decks. We're the ones paying so much to attend LSU right now, shouldn't we be getting at least decent seats to cheer on our peers? Instead of people who graduated 20 or 30 years ago and had their 4 years in Tiger Stadium?
