According to a Patriots writer for the team's website,SR appears to be making a strong run not only for significant pt as a rookie but also the team's long term lead back....stay tuned. Amazingly, he says Stevan exhibits more moves, wiggle, and bettr hands than many draft pundits thought he had...

Didn't see much of this at LSU. Seemed more like a run straight and bowl 'em over guy. Did he cut weight?

I wish him great success at the next level. I follow his posts on FB and he really seems to have a great attitude and a solid head on his shoulders.

I have watched him closely when the patriots have been playing this preseason, needless to say he has been tearing it up and seems to have a good work ethic. Best of luck to him!

I would love to fantasy draft him if he wasn't playing for the patriots.

I played against ridley all through high school in football basketball and baseball. We had a lot of the same friends and hung out with each other on multiple occasions. He really is a great guy and I hope the best for him, I never expected he would be where he is today.

Not bad value for a late round pick. May end up getting you some wins if the law firm goes down.

That's surprising considering that he was one of the top athletes in MS which produces a lot of NFL players. I'm guessing you're from the magnolia state.

He didn't catch much out of the backfield for LSU, but he definitely showed wiggle. Not much for moves like juking, but if plowing people counts as moves he did that too

It's the way a player's attributes fit into a system. Ridley didn't have the luxury of playing wiht a decent QB at LSU either. The NE organization has quality people running it and quality Coaches. They know how to surface raw talent in players and get the most out of them. Dude never got to display all his talents at LSU in a consistant fashion. That is a reflection of the LSU Staff, IMO.
For a number of years now I think LSU has had as good of talent as any team in America and have fallen short in bringing it to the top.
The continued chances given to JJ is mindboggling. I don't know of another player that has shown more mistakes and failures yet continues to start.

Not surprising at all. Ridley got the goods. 1200 yards last year largely on his own. Teams knew we had little passing and yet he was still able to make things happen.

Yes, quite serious. I never noticed much wiggle while at LSU and he didn't get enough receptions for him to be considered a good pass catcher. Seems like a very reliable one-cut power back. I'm just wondering if he dropped a few pounds to add quickness to his step.

No im from louisiana, the reason I never expected it is because we played in the MPSA not many kids play D1 college football from the mpsa much less a chance to be the new england patriots long term starting Rb. Its just kind of surreal for me

No, he didn't. He had the 2nd quickest time in the shuttle at the combine though. He's not a track runner, he's a football player. He can shift his weight laterally very quickly, that makes him shifty and gives him wiggle.

LSU has produced just as many overachievers as underachievers. It's mostly about the system. Ridley's role at LSU was to run downhill and wear out the defense. NE's system requires their RB's to be receivers. Everyone on the team is a passing target for Tom Brady. Even the occasional linebacker.

I am not saying that he was Kevin Faulk, in any way.....but just for an example of what moves he is capable of....watch the end of the WVU game. He can make cuts....but you are right, he bowled some poor 'couch burners' over in the same series.

I always thought he had wiggle. hell, at times, I thought he trie to "wiggle" too much, say back in 09 when he first became the feature back.

his pass catching was also good too, even though Crowton only featured it sporadically. :GaryBeingGary:
