I’ll play.
Yes. They seem to always turn it up around the halfway point of SEC play.. IIRC (I’ve had four concussions, so forgive me if I’m wrong), we made it all the way to the finals last year, after winning the SEC tournament - I’d say that’s a pretty impressive run, while the pressure was on, wouldn’t you?

Would you say PM teams have played their best baseball in the tournament over the past several years when the pressure is on the most?

it took Florida 3 frickin games to eliminate us in the championship series last year
My memory is hazy sometimes from excessive partying in my days, but I thought it was 2 games. Am I misremembering that?
Even if it was 2 games, I'm not taking away from your point. I'm a huge CPM fan.

No biggie ... I'm so used to being wrong I thought it was me. Haha.
Again, I think you made a great point.

But it also took the Florida program 11 trips to Omaha before finally winning a national title. O'Sullivan has had a stacked roster for years and always come up short until last year, and last year's Florida team was not the most talented team he's had.
This is what's the craziest of all. His team right now 2018 and 2011, 2015, 2016 were all one of the most talented teams in the country.
Tim Corbin doesn't have to abide by the 11.7 scholarships rule so it's not even worth it to compare recruiting classes.

Name three excellent coaches at the collegiate level.
Exclude Corbin and Sullivan because like Mainieri those coaches have "greatly underachieved" and only won a single national title with top recruiting classes each year.
***i bet he’s googling his arse off right now

I even googled past championships to prepare my angus for his answer.
He's going to come back with Ray Tanner who's retired and the coaches for Coastal Carolina and Arizona if I had to guess.

speaking of Corbin, he also finally broke through and won a national title with one of his lesser talented teams the past decade. shite, Vandy was the #1 overall seed in the tournament in 2007 and lost in the regional round. For whatever reason, some of our resident fans have it in their heads the following un-truths:
1) That LSU has many more resources than everyone else
2) That LSU has more talent than everyone else
3) That Mainieri is a bad coach
4) That we should make it to Omaha every year
5) That we should win a national title almost every year
It's like some people have been in a coma since 2000

And the same people will be left holding their dicks in their hands when they run PM out of here and are left with Keanu Reeves from Hardball trying to win the SEC

I wanna say the only active coaches with multiple national titles are Andy Lopez and Pat Casey. Pat Casey won B2B 11 years ago and hasn't won since. They had, by far, the best team in the country last year; however, didn't work out so much for him to the chagrin of Mainieri haters. Andy Lopez won his second in 2012, just 20 years after his first in 1992. (And they are both fantastic coaches just so we're clear, so are O'Sullivan, Corbin, and Mainieri)
I wouldn't be too worried about his response

It's like they forgot what a bad coach looks like and that Smoke Laval never happened. They also don't think Mainieri had to rebuild anything, that LSU has always been LSU and it should be just plug and play.

Most people who constantly complain about coaching can never articulate what they think the coach is doing wrong and/or have no perspective on what a reasonable expectation should be. They just see we lost a game so clearly the coach should have been able to prevent any losses from occurring. It just gets funnier in a sport like baseball where you're not going to win every game and the best team doesn't always win in the postseason. I honestly wanna say I'm not sure the overall #1 seed in the tournament has won the CWS any time recently. We have never been the #1 overall seed btw, not even under Skip. Believe the highest we've ever been seeded is #2 in 1997.
I generally like our baseball posters much more than any other sport because there are fewer of them and, generally, fewer idiots. But there are always the regular customers that somehow, even after watching all of these games, still don't really understand how baseball works or have any perspective of what goes on in the college baseball world outside Baton Rouge. They live in this little bubble they created in 1991 and think nothing has changed.

What's scary is there are still LSU fans that expect the team to win multiple titles every decade much like they did in the 90's.

Paul Miles

Paul Maineiri

Doesn't matter how you type it, its all the same.
