yet, the secondary is at its thinnest in YEARS.....sure, the defense under ARANDA should keep them from imploding, but that's 50% the battle.
How about you post some snazzy offensive pictures
Me referencing reality doesn't equate to supporting another team. How the frick do you deduce that? Deduce means to logically arrive at a reasonable conclusion based upon information provided BTW.

I absolutely give Kirby his due for the job he's done at GA from year 1 to 2, but isn't 2018 O's year 2. If we are using Kirby's success as a standard then this year is the "show me" season.
O already had a 3 year stint where he proved decline, not growth. O has never shown he go from one year to the next and get significant improvement. That's a fact. It doesn't matter where it is in his head coaching career.
Smart did it in literally his first two years of coaching. Think about that. O has had multiple attempts, multiple year to year transitions and has never 1) Proved it 2) Or had an administration, outside of LSU, think he could do it.
quote:
Do I think he can duplicate what Kirby did in year 2? Nope, but he better show improvement.
So do we lower our expectations? Is that a good thing?

If Alleva really is on the way out, the heat just got turned up on the coach's seat.
It only reduces the margin of error. He's here at least all of next year. If not the next as well.

His second year his team went 9-3. How in the world is Herman's 9-3 record horrible but o's 9-4 record is pretty damn good, according to you?
He had the most talented team in his conference. He was favored over SMU by 23 points and lost 38-16. He also lost to Navy and Memphis before hauling arse and his team losing to SJSU by a large margin.
quote:
Hell, even with his 7-6 record at Texas last year, he's 29-10 overall.
It will get a lot worse.
quote:
That beats the hell out of o's overall record, even with the two years as an interim head coach.
He is catching and will be passing the Kissing-bandit with every win. Bandit has Oklahoma and teams like TX Tech on senior day to deal with. Kiss Kiss !!!!
quote:
It was bad loss for Herman against a 5-7 team. But they are in the same conference, so even though Houston had the better team, the talent gap isn't (or shouldn't be) as large as the talent gap between two teams from vastly different conferences, say like LSU and Troy.
Yeah, shouldn't be but he was favored by 23 points and his #11 ranked team in the nation got drug up and down the field by unranked and suck-arse SMU and lost by 22 points. SMU had a losing record and didn't make a bowl game that year.
quote:
That being said,o lost to Troy who was a 20 1/2 point DOG.
And Troy finished the season 11-2 with a bowl win.

UT's record will be better than LSU's at the end of the season. Book it.

Good post, but Herman didn’t reject. He had verbal agreement then asked to hear what Texas has to say. Alleva pouted, flipped out and hired Captain Caveman.

Reality? Ha Ha Ha !!!!

just. stop.
11-2 means jack shite when that included a loss to South fricking Alabama.
This is LSU. This is not ULL. This is not ULM. This is not LaTech. This is not Tulane.
THIS. IS. LSU!
To champion this abortion of a hire is damn near criminal. LSU has come too far to sacrifice it all for this hometown boy bullshite.
oh.....ftr, O can win the same bar fight saban would get killed in. care to discuss relevance?

Here we go with pre-historic bullshite. Last decade he wasn't that good at Ole Miss so this decade at LSU he must not be good also. OLE MISS !!!

Based on your opinion on what happened over a decade ago when he was the coach at Ole Miss??? OLE MISS ????

There would have been even more epic melt if we hired Morris or Pruitt and maybe Moorehead.
No, there wouldn't be.
Maybe amongst the mouth breathing coonass contingent, but the intelligent, objective fans saw that Orgeron was a proven failure not only as a head coach, but as a head coach in our fricking division.
The other guys you listed are not failures and all are experts on one side of the ball, thus not needing 2 elite coordinators to cover up their deficiencies.

We swung for the proverbial fence with a 20 inch bat and missed.
Which is fine, then just for the next guy on the list. There wasn't a rush. We had an entire fricking season.

Can only play the hand we were dealt this season. We will either be happy with success or a new coach will be a closer reality.
If we don't win more than 7 games this year and Orgeron is retained, our program is fricked. Each passing day with Ed O at the helm, our program drifts further away from our lofty expectations.

You don't get it. People are a collection of traits, intelligence, skills, tendencies, etc. Some of that can be changed, some of that can't. Ed Orgeron has had multiple attempts, regardless of how long ago they were, to prove that he can take a team from one season to the next and improve it significantly. Year 1 to Year 2 at Ole Miss, Year 2 to Year 3 at Ole Miss. Interim Stint to Year 1 at LSU, and now Year 1 to Year 2 at LSU. That last one is the only one we have no evidence of. In no other situation has O shown the type of improvement that Smart did in his FIRST chance to show that, Y1 to Y2 at UGA.
Smart executed that in first attempt. O has yet to show that. Therefore, it's a fair assumption to say that O doesn't have the necessary skill do it, or lacks the will to change that part of his coaching style. Or, he just flat out can't do it. Whatever it is, he's never proven it. It's that simple.

He went 9-4 at LSU and played Notre Dame in a bowl game. That is fact !@!!
You mean he largely performed at the same level as his predecessor with minimal improvement overall? Sure.
I agree, people can change. But 1) You can't always change the important stuff 2) Sometimes you just can't change. O hasn't shown that he can, outside of being given a more talented team than Ole Miss and getting the same results as his predecessor.

If I was you I would just quit following LSU. Alabama is accepting bandwagon fans. Go join.
So you're saying to be an LSU fan you have to lower expectations? That's pretty sad.

The best indicator of future performance is past performance, is it not?
You can't just turn a blind eye to what he did in the past. If he was successful before, it would be continuously brought up now, works both ways
Ole Miss dramatically improved after he left, its very telling.

Man, this mindset is an illness. It is a disease that is corrupting our stupid fricking fanbase.
Our expectations should never be lowered. We should never move the goal posts. If Orgeron doesn't dramatically improve this year and have us in contention in the West and finish with 10+ wins, he should be fired.
Those are, and should forever be, our expectations.
