Yes. If they lost it would have been bad but they did not. Many teams schedule powder-puffs each year and IF they lose, it would look bad. Somehow, 90% of these teams don’t lose a single one of these games. Georgia won that game and went in to win their bowl that year. LSU actually DID manage to lose to TROY under Oregeron, not almost. That actually happened. They scored more points than us, at homecoming, at night, in Tiger stadium.

True, but for context they managed a 2 point victory over a 5-6 FCS team. Troy was an 11-2 FBS team that won it's bowl.

LSU did lose it's bowl to a top 15 ranked Notre Dame. True. GA beat 6-6 unranked TCU in the Liberty Bowl. If LSU had a 7-5 regular season record they might have gotten an easier game too. Instead they were 9-3.

Final record, LSU was 9-4. GA was 8-5.

GA's biggest margin of victory was 14 points over SC and ULL. Those were their only double digit wins.

LSU's biggest margins: 35 Chattanooga, 27 BYU, 24 A&M, 23 Ark, 20 Tenn, 16 Ole Miss

Just a little more context to go along with your OP.

Their fan base has never been this hyped.

They won SEC and a playoff game in year 2 and followed it up with one of the best recruiting classes in college football history.

And if UGA had gone backwards the next year, all of that would be a lot more relevant.

Turns out, they won the SEC, made the CFB playoff and played in the NCG and reeled in one of the best classes in recent memory.

If I does that this year, no one will be talking about Troy anymore.

If he doesn’t and goes 8-4, well

the richt dismissal wasn't without a heavy amount of guilt and waffling. the fact that so car was hot on Kirby and ready to make a move only expedited the process. Ga really didn't develop a search. they went after Kirby before so car got him. Kirby had rubbed a lot of people the wrong way after waffling on the DC job in Athens a few seasons ago. we really had no other choice because of our hastiness to make a November hire. herman was always going to tx and we sunk the jimbo ship in 2015. it was either "the elite recruiter who's one of us"or bust. lsu wasn't gonna risk on any of the young whipper snappers because of limited resume. they'll be going back into that pool, possibly as early as November if were facing a 7-5, 8-4

Well 2018 is O's year 2 like 2017 GA was for Kirby so if they don't exhibit significant improvement this year I'm sure the pitchforks will be coming out and I'll be right there with the rest.

Kirby has done a remarkable job at GA and has not shown any sign of letting up. I just don't think people realize how rocky that 2016 season was and how much hate and discontent was coming from the GA fan base. We only see our problems and magnify them accordingly.

Put simply for the 0 defenders here.

If 0 improves, like GA did, in year 2, he's good.

If after going 9-4 in year 1, then having 7-8 wins in year 2, well that is called regression and is exactly what 0 did at ole miss.

This is the year.

One thing left off.

Coach Orgeron is provided a completely guaranteed contract while Kirby Smart is not.

Smart signed a contract worth 22 million. If UGA terminated in 2016 they would owe 13.5 million.

Orgeron.. LSU gave a proven failure a fricking guaranteed contract something Nick Saban doesn't even have.

Ugh. That could have been a good breakdown, it's just so annoying when people are ignorant to the difference between fact and opinion. It's not that hard.

Although I and many here see your point and agree mostly... your original post was extremely biased with lots of personal opinion and speculation. I would take the word unbiased out of your title. Otherwise, I agree with your post.

Miles solidified and built upon that success and made LSU a force in not only the SEC but in the country, but the program had taken a step back in recent years. LSU's AD had an opportunity to re-establish LSU as a national football power, but many fans view this hire as an epic failure.

Well said, our haters are very short sighted and have an agenda like a democratic party. But lets see what LSU does this season, ...if its horrible, then I'll carry a pitchfork also.

Until then,

There would have been even more epic melt if we hired Morris or Pruitt and maybe Moorehead. We swung for the proverbial fence with a 20 inch bat and missed. Can only play the hand we were dealt this season. We will either be happy with success or a new coach will be a closer reality.

Well, they did win a CFP semifinal, so that’s just false. Then lost in OT in the National Championship, all in Kirby’s second year. So will O have us in the CFP this year? I don’t want to hear excuses about Young’s QB’s either, Fromm and Tua we’re both true freshman.

ETA: They also won the SEC championship. So no, they don’t always choke in big games. Good try, though. How much does Fat Goebbels pay you per hour?

Ya, I think we can all agree that what Kirby and Dabo have done is not normal for a program.

Kirby took over a good program and finished what Richt couldn't. Now he's challenging Saban.

Dabo has built a powerhouse.

We'll see what O does this year. I'm hoping we can surprise some people.

True regardless, but Surtain being a bitch doesn't help. But let's see how that class plays out; there might be ever so much truth in the idea that we filled out the trenches, which you can't win games without.
