After 5 years of it not working out, it's time to turn the page. He's smart to go play at another school.

Maybe. But as a transfer he now has options. He's going to be recruited. If a school reaches out to him and says that they want him to simply be a part of a QB competition then he doesn't have to go to that school. He can choose a school that tells him they want him to come in and start right away.

Many don't want to believe this, but that is EXACTLY what Burrow was told when LSU recruited him in the spring of 2018. Sure, there may have been a wink-wink, nod-nod, that he was going to have to "win" the job. But Burrow had options and he wasn't leaving OSU just for the opportunity to maybe start. He, because he limited eligibility remaining, was going somewhere he KNEW he would start.

Brennan will likely do the same thing here. First, field calls from interested teams. Then, choose the school that guarantees him the opportunity to start immediately. He don't have enough time left to get into another "QB competition"

All that may be the case, but to me it’s as much the mental factor as anything else. He sat on the bench as backup then got hurt multiple times when his number was called, plus sees the state of the program.

He probably just wants a fresh start to wash that away and get in the right headspace/away from any perceived bad juju with him as LSU starter. He’s doing what he and his family feel is right for him first, and I think most rational LSU fans are going to support that and pull for him ultimately.

Simple! He has one more year to show the NFL scouts his capabilities.
No one knows what LSU will be next season. It's a shite show at the moment.
He can pick a program that fits his talent, and needs a QB, and almost guarantee he will start.

you sure about that? Because I don't think he was going to beat out Max this fall, before his injury took care of that.
Max was the backup if Brennan hadn't gotten hurt.

And we already have Nuss and Howard is coming in. Oh yea, and we don't know who the new coach's offensive scheme will be.
I still think he could win next year, but why risk it.

This is pretty easy. He is not the most mobile guy, our OL is shite and is going to get worse. The next OC will play the most mobile of Nuss and Howard after he lets Johnson get the shite knocked out of him for half a year.

Brennan will go somewhere that has a decent OL, and a system that highlights a drop back passer.

LSU is exactly NOT the place for Brennan right now.

I would challenge that Brennan wouldve left without any staff changes.

Should have at least been an alternating QB with his first two years

Brennan had the best passing ability of any of the QB's we had in those two years and we could at least have put him in on obvious third down passing plays. It is true as you'll say that the coaches had no confidence in him and this is exactly why I say he was screwed. He should have been given a real chance on the field and not just judged by some incompetent coach like O. We were still doing the Les Mile philosophy of having your QB just be a "game manager" and not a passer moving the ball down the field with multiple formations which we finally got in 2019.

The writing was on the wall for him. He’s losing his biggest advocate and would definitely have to beat out all other QBs on the roster with a new coaching staff. He’s struggled dealing with adversity his entire time at LSU which is the only thing you can affirmatively say about him. Two games is too small a sample size to assert anything about him, have to look at the full scope. Best case scenario for him is to go to a team that needs a QB immediately for him to even have an opportunity at the NFL.

Let’s all be honest, he’s never going to be a starter in the NFL. Poor guy is injury prone and shies away from contact in the pocket. Best of luck to him in the future.

I don’t know why you idiots keep saying this.

There is zero doubt that had he not broken his arm, Myles would have been the starter.

The only QB controversy was on the rant. If Max’s play this year hast proven that, you are too invested in “your guy” to see reality.

Well Max has shown enough to know he he isn’t the guy.

The new staff owes him nothing. Nothing will be guaranteed. Why not go somewhere that someone will invest in you?

really? Zero doubt. Really?

Then why didn't O announce Brennan was the starter after spring ball? Don't say "to keep Brennan sharp" with perceived competition from Max.

There's a lot of value to be had for the team to know who their QB is early on, so they can buy in mentally and coalesce behind him.

I thought all along that Max was going to be the starter. Now, Max hasn't lit it up this year, but a lot of that is our poor OL and OC.

He did in 2020
Based on what we've seen, I would think he did in 2021.

Some may have thought so in 2018 but no one really thought he was beating out Burrow once people saw Burrow play.

If Burrow does not transfer to LSU I suspect he may have started in 2018 & 2019 barring injury. Injuries do seem troublesome with Brennan but perhaps it's just a sequence of unfortunate events.

Wait. People actually think Max Johnson would’ve beaten Brennan out of the starting job this fall?

Are you fishing for downvotes or something?

Myles was the starter this year, until he hurt himself.
That might not be the case next year with both Max and Nuss developing. Myles is not going to risk that, he needs a guaranteed start for his last year.
Makes total sense to me. Best of luck to him.

I'd imagine he simply wants to go somewhere that he will have the ability to be the starting QB at. That's not happening at LSU
