Changes to the bat and ball--may have the game safer but not very exciting. I long for the long ball-10 plus runs a game--a feeling we're never out of it no matter the score.

It wasn't baseball back in the old gorilla ball days. Hitting 2-3 home runs per game gave no real perspective. The change to the balls have made enough of a difference where true power hitters can still easily get some big home run numbers meanwhile guys who are 5'9 160 cant jack 15 home runs a season anymore. That's the way it should be. Pitchers just rarely had a chance back in the juiced bat days.

Sure scoring is always more exciting, but the sport is so much better aligned with pro baseball now it gives a more real "feel" to it all. Also certainly helps scouts out a lot more.

LSU scored 15 runs Thursday night and deichmann hit a grand slam 6000 feet.

I miss LSU intimidating their opponents just getting off the bus, then dominating them on the field.

That also had a lot to do with how our guys looked back then. They were all monsters. Now everyone on the team is 5'4" it seems like.

That's what I was alluding too. CPM recruits players that remind him of himself, little scrappy, slap hitters.
Not exclusively, but quite a bit.

LSU doesn't have anyone of the team who is 5'4" or even anyone on the team shorter than 5'9".

You must be the same one who likes the NBA All-Star game.

Would've been if it hadn't bounced off the memorial tower.

Screw costs, go to woods bats and MLB might respect the college game more. If schools can't afford it, get rid of baseball.

People complain about PM and how he constructs his team but if you can't pitch and play d you are not going to win in Omaha with that setup.

This was supposed to be another epic season with so many returning studs. I swear CPM could mess up anything.

Meanwhile, Coach Andy Cannizaro takes a rebuilding year at MSU (where 6 pitchers were lost to surgery) and has them with an equal record.

LSU should not be about tweaking and tinkering lineups, LSU should be about fired up excitement and motivation. We simply have the wrong coach.

Question: How many LSU sports fans does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer: Ten, one to change the bulb and nine to post on the Rant about how great the old light bulb was.......

It is better now. Much better pitching and defense. Those 16-14 games were more like a neighborhood game of softball, imo.
