This is where NIL gets weird. This started from jersey sales, autographs, video games, etc. We can't call this NIL anymore. If we're negotiating sums to play, then contracts need to be involved. NCAA really needs to figure this out. None of it makes sense anymore.
Here’s the thing: it was never going to just be actual NIL. People would always shite on the NCAA for being so strict on pay, but this is why. If there is any slight loophole, people will take advantage of it.

It's already happened here, just well covered up.
Considering we've not made it to the playoff, I'm going to venture to say you are not a reliable source of information.

I think if I’m the coach, I tell the player to go frick himself And suspend him.
Then, when the media asked me why I suspended him, I tell them he wanted to hold the team hostage for a payout to play in this particular game, so I told him to go frick himself and suspended him.

While I agree with some of the things you brought up where you are wrong is the NFL ABSOLUTELY has restrictions on endorsement deals. Google it if you don’t believe me. I completely agree about the portal. It needs to be reigned in. Some how some way they need antitrust protections like the pro leagues have. That would probably entail letting the players unionize and collectively bargain. That in itself opens up a whole new can of worms with title IX and other things.

The answers money, what's the question?

and NIL cannot be tied to play or performance?
This is just not true. Players aren’t getting NIL, they are getting salaries paid from the collective. The collective is paying players strictly for play, and their salaries absolutely can go up based on performance in the prior year. See Nuss getting a huge pay raise this offseason.

It’s congress fault

No it’s not. Lol
It’s 1. The NCAA’s fault for not being proactive to institute rules that would be accepted by the courts.
Then it’s the courts fault for their rulings.
Congress has had nothing to do with any of this and shouldn’t.

Just a bowl game , no , certain players don’t want to get hurt before moving on to the nfl ; however if in the playoffs those same players afraid of getting hurt would probably play. Playing for the best interest of the “team” is a thing of the past for the most part.

Right now it's the wild west and paid gunslingers are a part of it all. It's become what many of us said it would.

Call it what it is. Freelance, as needed, or locums work (physicians)
Pay a premium or get fricked.
