Increasingly, I think a message is/ may be being sent. But not by Alleva.
The no -search quick hire of an unqualified Head FB coach, being paid near the bottom of the SEC should have gotten your attention, whether you liked the hire or not. Now we suffer through JJ with no discernible effort to commit resources to correct the problem.
F. King has been screaming "academic bankruptcy" and tyring to dramatize the ridiculous spending cuts suffered by the University.
He may feel that the only way to get people's attention is to make sure LSU Athletics is affected by the crisis. Hope that is not the case.
Understandable motivation, unforgivable strategy.

He isn't going to fire someone mid season after the Miles debacle.
.
The more they lose the more reason he has to fire JJ

conduct a competent search and make a great hire. All prior evidence says he can't.
Prior evidence shows that LSU's inability to make a great basketball hire was the norm way before Alleva got here.

Jones will be fired at seasons end , and the search has begun .

Uhhh, we lost a home game and we have to play b2b in Gainesville, so no.
He did not stand up to Sankey and Foley.

He lost a PR battle with Foley and Sankey, despite having the better hand.

Maybe Aleva doesn't have the power to run the program in a championship manner. Louisiana has been known for political corruption for decades.
Except for Emmert, when has LSU shown a demand for excellence in their hires on any level in any program?
I've been a fan since the early 60s and have learned to accept their lack of a championship goal.

Same perspective here.
Except that F. King is capable of doing a whole lot more harm to the school than any predecessor.
AND there is no political will to stop the draconian cuts to higher education which has crippled LSU as a whole.
Truth is, the number of folks who really care whether LSU thrives as an academic institution are quite small. Most only care about the football team. I appears to me that F. King now recognizes this and intends to send a message to everybody that cannot be ignored.

I don't think this is the issue at all. The in-season fire of Miles was not an unpopular move. I know I was happy at that time.
But think about being a future employee thinking about taking a job offering here. If he did fire CJJ, while he may have a reasoning, that would be 2 coaches fired in the middle of their seasons in just a matter of months.
I know getting fired is part of coaching, but doing it in the middle of the season, in the college game, isn't a good look. Doing it to 2 coaches in the middle of their seasons, is even worse.
Would you want to go work for an employer that is known for firing people?
ETA - He's not doing this to prove a point. Anyone who says that is just an idiot, because this was Alleva's hire too.

If he's doing that then he's no better than the posters here that wanted LSU to fail because they hates Miles.
You ever pull against your own team, you're an abomination of a fan.

It wasn't so much that I was happy he fired Miles in the middle of the season, it was just way way overdue. When it happened, I was feeling like... finally! I thought he should have been fired after every season starting with 2012.

Football
1 football team still had promise when Miles was fired. Miles had agreed to change the offense and didn't. Alleva knew the talent was better than the onfield performance so a change had to be made to attempt to right the ship and save the season.
2 basketballs season is over whether a change is made or not at this point. Basketball does not have the talent that football had. No reason to make an immediate change
3 coaches are not available yet. Alleva does not want a "shite show" of a job search and will likely attempt to have things in place before the firing and avoid another Herman situation.

There are seven games (counting an SEC tournament game) remaining? What is your ultimate goal for wanting to fire Jones now? To win one or two more games? What would that mean for next season? Not a damn thing.
So just let the season play out. There's no reason to fire him at this point. You're not getting a head start on the coaching search and anything you need to do (back-channel communications) can be done through agents right now without firing him.

I wouldn't hold your breath given the way he handled the football search
