you've been doing work on the Pitt forum I see...

It's fun to see how defensive they get. They walk right into it when they say stupid shite like "LSU cannot afford to pay Dixon what it would take". shite, LSU could buy Pitts entire shitty athletic department if they wanted. There are a few that are in complete denial that a meeting even took place.

This is strictly an agent ploy by Dixon for more $$ ....his opinion

This is definitely the most likely scenario, IMO.

Why the hell do you take time to fly to Atlanta if it's a ploy? Would've just been easier to do a phone interview with LSU.

In college basketball today, Dixon is worth 2.5-3 million.

We shouldn't go north of 3 million.

We should settle for Theus at 2 million if it comes to that.

You serious. Man they do they even pay attention to college athletics? We are closer to Texas type athletic budget than Pitt type athletic budget

Exactly what I'm thinking. I am still positive about this. I think we will know for sure tomorrow.

If it's a ploy for more money, wouldn't he have gotten it from the threat of the TCU coaching search? They paid Trent 2.3 million.

I agree with this. Not saying we hire him, but he had as much leverage with TCU, which is his alma mater. Why not use them? He has also had other offers.

I'd pay 3 million for a 3 year deal...or a 5 year deal with a restructure clause. We don't have state of the art facilities and the fan base is asleep. Gotta use money and incentives to get anybody worth a damn.

Don't want to link a competitor of TD, but it is the Pitt Rivals board. Don't know if you'll need Mod approval or not. It could get fun over there though.

Exactly. He could have leveraged Pitt to at least 2.5 million dollars, which would be an 800,000 raise.

If he has met with the LSU administration, which seems like it has happened, he's legitimately interested.

I'm not saying we'll get him, but we're in the running.

LSU's athletic budget: $80 million

Pitt's athletic budget: $50 million

We can outbid Pittsburgh if that's what it takes.

Hell, we're at $80 million WITHOUT a decent basketball program. Probably an $85 million program with one.

Could anyone see Alleva being greedy enough to offer around $ 3.5 mil?

We're missing out on a lot of money with the basketball program.

Basketball only takes 11(?) scholarship players as opposed to 85 scholarships with football.

The travel and logistics are generally less expensive as well.

Overall, basketball can be a cash cow. Our administration needs to really make a strong commitment to basketball because if we can fill the PMAC on a consistent basis, it's worth more than $5 million dollars easily.

I think if Alleva is after a big name whoever it is he is making a Nick Saban football pitch. Includes $ for HC but also assistants and a plan for how they will invest huge in basketball.

He's saying we are going to be a basketball school and we are going to pay in every way to do it. Thats the only way we land a top guy. Otherwise its Jones.

We should set our sights higher if we're throwing around that type of money.

That's only 500,000 less than Calipari money.
