If you have no problem with 2 or 3 interceptions a game, TJ was great.

He played 5 games and had 5 picks. Calm down.

Then when Max finally takes over, boom the offense takes off again.

Defensive rankings of teams and who started
TJ:
-Texas A&M #9
-Alabama #32
-Auburn #63

Max:
-UF #83
-Ole Miss #126

Max was handling the offense better than TJ was, but he was also doing it against teams whose defenses were much worse.

Wonder why we waited so long to pay Max ??? Would have won more games if he played more.

Max came in vs Auburn, Alabama, and TAMU

24 passes vs Auburn 7.2 ypa 1 TD, 7 carries 5 yards
22 passes vs TAMU 5.1 ypa 1 TD, 8 carries -4 yards
17 passes vs Bama 6.5 ypa, 5 carries 2 yards

How could your dumbass look at this video of EVERY PLAY, look at his numbers, and say some complete idiotic shite like that?

We lost to Auburn by 37, Bama by 38, and TAMU by 14. We wouldn't have won any of those games with Max.

I hate when people can't be realistic with the QBs. Max's ability to run, a thrown shoe, and Ole Miss being allergic to Boutte is the only reason any of you crazies even think Johnson is/was better.

I really do hope he improved greatly because that was not good QB play last year. We had to cut him some slack because he was a true freshman, but this year is different. He had half a year worth of passes and really good experience vs all the best teams we played last year.

I agree 100%. Its cool to see his improvement game to game. He didn't throw well early which is probably why TJ got the start over him. After the AU game, Max should have been QB1 tho, IMO. I think TAMU gets a run for their money with Max in all game.

Max's worst game was vs TAMU. 5.1 ypa and -4 rushing yards. That's no better than Finley.

I think people get lost in the numbers as well as the W-L. I like watching Max play, but let’s be real. Ole Miss had one of the worst defenses in the country and Florida gift wrapped that win for us. And no, more than just the shoe. Blown coverages and stupid turnovers kept us close and we STILL needed a stupid penalty on their behalf to win.

I’m not saying he didn’t do a great job, but upon re-watch of his highlights compared to Myles, it’s glaringly obvious that Max needs more time in the oven.

One thing I noticed was him backing away from pressure, not having time to set his feet and just flinging the ball. Not generally advisable but maybe that's some freshman anxiousness.

The best thing that Max did last season was the EXPERIENCE. Knowing Max is starting since Myles is out, I feel much more comfortable with Max practicing all August before the game starts against UCLA.

I'm not saying he was all-world last year. But playing against SEC defenses helps him be more comfortable come the first game.

Finally, all of LSU's offense and defense will look much better than last year. Heck, LSU offensive lineman Coach Brad Davis is going to impact the o-line better than last year's debacle.

Agreed, another thing I noticed is that he needs to have better awareness of the 1st down marker. In a lot of those plays you see him check down on 3rd and long. And when he scrambled, it looks like he often goes out of bounds before getting the 1st down.
I think that's all freshmen miscues that get corrected with experience

True, but Finley throws a pick 6 in that game because he freaked out like JJ used to. Max wouldn't do that. imo

Just watched the whole thing. It was nice to see his progression through the season. He just kept getting better and better. His running ability definitely opens up the offense. Gilbert was a beast. I hate to lose him. We've got some great receivers coming back this year. I'm excited for the start of the season.

My take aways:

Max looked better against Bama than I expected.

Max played very cool for a true freshman in the SEC.

Max played his arse off against UF. That game was way more than a shoe throwing penalty. Every game has flukes both ways. The team that takes advantage of them wins. It also can't be understated how hard it was to get your first SEC start as a true freshman in a hostile environment against a playoff contender late in the season when you're just finding your legs while everyone else has become seasoned. The fact that the game was even close would have been impressive, so much more so winning it.

On most of the log balls that Max was inaccurate on, he did not set himself properly. He also made some really good long throws when he did. I think that's very correctable and encouraging.

I'm not saying Max is as good as JB or will win us a NC at this point, but I do think that there's a lot to like about Max and our chances this season with him.

ETA: Especially if he make the jump from year 1 to year 2 that we often see.

Okay, I got you. According to you, TJ Finley is a far better QB relative to Max Johnson.

I got you but I sure in the hell don't agree with your insanity.
