All field turf fields should be against the law.

That ball hit straight down 3ft in front the plate and took off like a rocket. If it's dirt that ball eats it and becomes a routine ground ball or a foul ball.

Sucks that SDSU is the only team that gets to hit on the turf field.

Vanderbilt does it and there is no excuse. They have perfectly suitable climate, they have tons of money, tons of fan support, very successful program, etc.

fricking absurd.

Doesn’t help that Slaughter was playing even with the bag.

That’s a playable ball otherwise

I know they did and I know the benefits. Doesn’t come close to outweighing the fact it’s an abomination to the sport of baseball.

Apparently, you have never been to Oregon. Total volume is irrelevant. It may take 3 days of their rain to produce the same total as 1 thunderstorm down south, but theirs is constant mist all day, every day. Did your stats page tell you that?

Most schools can’t afford a full grounds crew for a college baseball team

The turf lets coaches ... you know, actually coach rather than spending hours on maintenance.

Sometimes LSU fans remind me of a little kid who grew up in a palace. “Well why doesn’t everyone just do it the way we do it” ... BECAUSE WE’RE frickING POOR

1) Turf fields absolutely need maintence. Especially in damp climates. They actually can be more dangerous.

2) Small schools all over the country play on grass and dirt. The players take care of the field. It was like that at LSU until about 20 years ago.

3) Turf fields hold water too unless you have a drainage system. If you have a drainage system the grass would be just a playable as turf. In these freak monsoon conditions y’all want to bring up everything would be unplayable.

Some of y’all are acting like baseball couldn’t exist before the invention of field turf.

Not even remotely comparable from a workload standpoint.

The ones that have the funds to switch to turf are switching in massive numbers

You aren't playing baseball in pouring down rain on any surface.

Turf isnt to prevent rainouts. It certainly helps but it takes a workload off of coaches and players who have more important things to worry about.

Apparently I’ve never been to Oregon even though I was born and raised there?

Of course stats lie.

High schools do it.

If they have the money for field turf they can afford one grass guy and give him a bunch of student workers.

What are these players and coaches doing? You ever seen players in a rain delay? They ain’t splitting atoms. Student workers roll out a tarp and any halfway decent drainage system can handle normal rain. The stats were posted. BR gets more rain than Corvallis.

I can do this all night.
