Wonder why they don't make the color of fake dirt look more like the color of real dirt.

The color LSU chose is a true baseball clay color. It was either that or dukey brown like UL. I take the clay everytime over that ugly brown.

How far are they going w/ the turf? all the way through the infield? foul ground only? whole field?

It looks like foul ground. Definitely not the field.

Yeah it would be nice if the dirt around home plate and the artificial dirt right next to it were at least close to the same color.

It's going to look like shite if the green turf doesn't match the grass.

ETA: I just remember UNO's field had turf in the infield and grass in the outfield and it looked like utter shite.

As of now it doesn't match, but it's also super cold/less sunlight for the grass, so it looks very pale, especially next to the brand new, hardly walked on (whoops) turf. It'll probably still look off by first pitch, so I'd wait until the SEC schedule kicks in to give a fair judgement.

Hate artificial turf in baseball, even if it's in foul territory. Takes away from the uncertainty of the game.

I'm not a fan of it either, but this reason make no sense.

Errors and such. Hopefully since it's foul territory it won't affect the game.

Edit: then again, players have to get used to stepping onto a different surface while going to catch a pop-up while tracking the ball.

When they replaced the grass areas around home plate at Tiger Park last year I was worried about how it would look next to the natural grass. At softball you couldn't even tell it was artificial because LSU's sport turf guys do such a good job on it. I'd say once the grass is in top shape it will match at Box just like it did at Tiger Park.
