10.5. Lot of good tackles from the West have graduated.

quote:Doesn't always work that way. Melvin Oliver led the team with 6 sacks as a backup in '02. Then in '04, working in the same defensive scheme as a starter with two more years experience and with Spears on the other side drawing attention from the OL, he had 1 sack. Alem will be working in a new defensive scheme with just one more year's experience while being the main focus of the OLs. He may go off for 20+ sacks or he may be held to 1 or 2.
He got 8 last year as a backup.....Don't really understand the predictions of lower numbers while playing twice as much.
Personally, I'm hoping for the 20+.

12. I expect that Al Woods will be playing DT next to him, and he should command a double team given his sheer massiveness.

Agree - not as many as predicted because of double teams. I hope he is intimidating enough earlier in the season that by mid season he is not getting the pub but is drawing two OL like Dorsey.

What an absurd question that has no answer. I will counter with how many QB hurries will Chad Jones create?

At least 20 - if he stays healthy.

I definitely expect double digit sacks. I think he will be one of the most talked about defensive players in the SEC by mid season.

I'm giving him 8.5. He's no Gabe Northen brother!!!

5...just don't see him going off.
I really just don't understand this at all.

Gabe was a beast. Haven't seen anyone close to the level of #88....until Alem. Rahim has the speed and ability to join Northen's ranks. We all can agree, it will be a blast to watch this fall.

The better question is how many times will he miss a tackle on the RB when he runs full throttle at the QB to try to get a sack? I think he is a fantastic pass rusher, but only an average DE because he doesn't stay home when he is supposed to.
