The baseball IQ in the game threads had gone to crap.
Far too many people posting about a 3-2 “hit and run” without realizing the batter doesn’t have to swing at a ball. If it’s a ball, the hitter isn’t supposed to swing, and take ball 4.
If it’s a fastball, the hitter likely puts it in play. If it’s a curveball, even on a swing and miss the base runner should be able to swipe the bag.

it's a common baseball strategy with a fast runner on first and a good hitter at the plate you call a steal attempt, knowing it's highly likely that he either makes contact or looks at ball 4.
