AI question: “What is the college football program that is comparable to Ole Miss?”

“in terms of national championships won and frequency ranked in the top 10 over the last 40 years”
Answer:
“A surprisingly good comparison for Ole Miss Rebels football over roughly the last 40 years is probably Arkansas Razorbacks football.
Why Arkansas fits:
* Both have old historical prestige with disputed/older national title claims.
* Neither has won a modern consensus national championship.
* Both have periods of national relevance mixed with long stretches of “good but not elite.”
* Both occasionally crack the top 10 but aren’t perennial contenders.
* Both are SEC programs that live in the shadow of bluebloods like Alabama and LSU.”
ouch. I was expecting a little bit better than Arkansas. Other teams listed are Texas Tech, South Carolina, and Oklahoma State.

West Virginia
Yeah, I grew up and live in WV and despite not having any natties, I've always thought Ole Miss is comparable and I'd argue WVU has been better since '03.

Ole Miss sucks ding dongs. Not on literal level like A&M. But yeah they suck. They’re the Mississippi “Arkansas”.
They’re super lucky they managed to have won a title. Arkansas can’t even say that
Pop up near first base line
Edit: yes, you’re asking football , but I think it applies across most sports

I think this is insulting to Arkansas. They've at least won the division and played in an SEC championship game three times.

I'd say Missouri is a very good comp in conference.
Kansas is actually a very good comp. Poor history, and occasionally rise up for a very good year. The primary state school in state.
