You see, it appears that way for awhile, but only until Toothless Timmy has enough time to frick around with that money and get himself in a mess. As is usually the case, within 3-5 years, Toothless Timmy will be back living in Trailerville, and as a broke dick MF.
REALLY? YOU CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE?
quote:
Sheldon Adelson, United States
Net worth: $26.5 billion
Age: 73
Son of a Boston cabdriver borrowed $200 at age 12 to start selling newspapers. Later did stints as a mortgage broker, investment advisor and financial consultant. The high school drop out and Broadway enthusiast studied voice in his teens, but it was another kind of stage that called him: trade shows, where he made his first fortune. Later gambled on casinos in Las Vegas, Macau and Singapore. Took his Las Vegas Sands public in December 2004. Says Adelson, ''I loved being the outsider.''
quote:
Li Ka-shing, Hong Kong
Net worth: $23 billion
Age: 79
Fled a turbulent China in 1940; settled in Hong Kong. At age 15, after the death of his father, was forced to leave school to work at a plastics factory. Later borrowed money to manufacture plastic flowers; eventually grew his Cheung Kong Industries into a conglomerate with stakes in supermarkets, property and cell phones. Old Hong Kong joke said that for every dollar spent in Hong Kong, five cents went to Li. Dubbed ''Superman,'' knighted by Queen Elizabeth. Despite enormous wealth, his secret wish is reportedly to be able to walk in the park without being recognized
quote:
Roman Abramovich, Russia
Net worth: $18.7 billion
Age: 40
Orphan by age four; grew up with uncle and grandmother. After military stint, dropped out of college to take part in controversial Russian oil-export deals. In 1995, teamed up with fellow Russian Boris Berezovsky to take over oil giant Sibneft for a reported $100 million; sold it to Russia's Gazprom for $13 billion a decade later. Passionate soccer fan owns U.K.'s Chelsea club; has many other toys, including jets, yachts and a home that reportedly cost $100 million. Recently made headlines for divorce from his second wife and speculation over how much of his fortune she'd get
quote:
Kirk Kerkorian, United States
Net worth: $15 billion
Age: 91
Son of Armenian immigrants dropped out of eighth grade and took up boxing. Amateur fighter threw punches under the name ''Rifle Right Kerkorian.'' Flew planes across the Atlantic during World War II. Made first bundle selling Tran International Airlines in the 1960s; invested proceeds in Las Vegas. Today his MGM Mirage owns more than half the hotel rooms on the Las Vegas Strip. Continues to jab at auto industry; after failing to orchestrate turnaround at ailing general Motors, sold off shares and later made unsuccessful bid for Chrysler arm of DaimlerChrysler.
wow you determined that he'll be broke in a few years just because of what? I can make a list of billionaires from rags to riches

Disagree. We've won a championship with him as our coach so obviously it's possible.

This is incorrect.
The '07 NC is credited to Nick Saban. The title was won by Saban's players with Les serving as the "straw-man" coach. He was just a warm body while the team, not unlike a YMCA flag football squad, coached themselves to the title.
Curiously however, Ron Zook has not been credited with UF's 2006 title, nor has a statue been erected in honor of Mike Shula for Bama's 2009 NC, even though it was thier players who by all accounts actually won the respective championships.

I was hoping the sarcasm would come flowing through. Apparently it did not. The whole basis of my post was to show the illogicalness of the argument that Miles only won the NC because he had Saban's players. I'm not, nor have I ever been a huge fan of CLM as a head coach (I feel he got the LSU gig by virtue of two underdog wins over OU), however give the man his due. He was the coach during the 07 season last time I checked. If someone is going to aruge that the only reason LSU won the NC was because of Saban's players, then why shouldn't the same arguement made that Urban Myer won the '06 NC with Zook's players or that Saban won with Shula's players? The fact is that each head coach should get credit for that particular year's NC, regardless who convinced the player to come to that school.

Come to think of it, I don't like Les Miles either. I say I will agree.

The only way Les Miles gets credit for the 2007 title is if Nick Saban did not win a title in 2003.
Without Saban's recruits, Miles would be another Croom in the SEC.

That's complete bullshite. Miles has recruited every bit as good as saban has. Every single player on the 2007 NC team spent MORE time under Miles then they did saban. You cannot give saban credit for that championship, thats just idiotic. If you want to hate on miles go for it you have some examples to use. But give the man credit where he deserves it or STFU.

so just because they was with Saban for one or two years..he's credited for the 2007 title? what about his players being average in the NFL??? dont tell me they lost Saban's mojo after being in the NFL....

I'm amazed at how many LSU "fans" seem to want LSU to have a bad year so that they can satisfy their bloodlust for getting rid of Miles. Personally, I hope LSU goes undefeated and keeps Miles, who then goes on to win championships every year for many years to come. My love for LSU is greater than any desire I may have to see Miles go. But some folks seem to have hatred for Miles that exceeds their passion for LSU.
Well said!

Sounds like such a reasonable request, doesn't it?
It's a shame that it appears to be above the ability of some.

quote:I would think that finishing 3rd in the SEC, winning 9 regular season games, losing to the #1 & #2 ranked teams in the 4th quarter and being in our other two loses with a chance to win at the end all while playing with one of the worst ranked offenses in D1 college football shows our coaches did a hell of a job managing what they had to work with last year. If we field a top 40 offense this year, there is no reason we should not be in the thick of the SEC champ race.
But based on his teams' performance the last couple of seasons, a lot of us are not convinced he's got what it takes.

I don't care if the ship is sinking or if there is no ship. I'll always think LSU can turn it around.
Maybe a kick in the arse is all Les needs to get going again.
I can hope can't I?
