Strong took a big step toward solidifying his job by beating Notre Dame in the season opener. I'd put LSU at the top of the potential landing spots for Herman. Yep, Houston could land in the Big 12 and keep Herman or maybe he'll go elsewhere like the Pac-12. But never say never, which also is why Herman could land at LSU unless Miles saves his job, by say, beating Alabama.

I'm seriously wondering if A&M and Texas fans are having mixed feelings about winning this weekend

What a neat headline

Would LSU have a passing interest in UH's Herman?

Best choice and it's not close.

Herman at LSU and a revamped Texas would mean bad things for aTm.

Herman would bolt if either of those jobs came open. It would be like a Miles to Michigan every few years

As much as I would love the hire it's just a pipe dream right now.

Based on what? Texas, maybe. He started out there as a coach and got his Masters at UT. He has absolutely zero ties to aTm.

He's from Ohio. His only ties to Texas are his stint at UT and now at Houston.

Texas maybe.

I doubt he'd leave for A&M after pounding them for 3-4 years.

I will be glad to take my fricking chances of that happening.

Just get Tom Herman to Baton Rouge.

He coached across TX from 98-08. Good try.

I'd rather deal with Herman doing well at LSU and hearing rumors of him leaving every year than deal with the annual shitshow that is Les Miles and co.

Why do we suddenly expect the admin to be willing to dish out a pile of cash for Herman?

Should have done my homework

Either way, he has zero ties to aTm.

This is the real question. The buyout for Les is around $15M and the buyout for Herman is around $5M (didn't go back and look those up - fyi).

But it would be in the $20M range just to make the change. That doesn't even include Herman's new salary and what we owe Aranda. It's just not going to happen this year.
