His high throws are because he's not comfortable with his follow through. Adrenaline probably helped on his first drive. His back should get better and more confident running the offense. Look what he did last year and he's got better coaching now. We will be salty on Defense and improved on offense. We have a 10 win team. Who knows maybe we get a few breaks and Etling suprises and we win 11 like the Fpi predicted..

Etling will be the National Championship MVP. Book it.

Etling is just not good enough for the bigger games

give the kid a chance. he's the best we got right now. he's capable of improving. BUT, he needs protection from his OL and they were manhandled in at least 2 games last year.

This kid is fearless and tough. Heck, he can even throw it sufficiently at least intermediate distances. Give him more than the time it takes the bama d-line to run 10 yards upfield unopposed and he'll do what we need from him.

I would gladly take 10 wins in CEO's first full year and with a new OC. Also, it's the spring game. It doesn't mean anything. If this is still a problem in late August I'll be worried.

Well, at this point the position is his to lose...hopefully he breaks out and dominates this year.

He had a chance old man, and he crumbled. This team belongs to Narcisse or Scott.

The kid played for over a year with a herniated disk. I don't know how good he's going to be but I'm pulling for him more than ever.

I understand you wanting him to breakout but he's a senior his breakout has passed. I am for DE to succeed cause I love LSU but I hope he does well enough to have this team moving the chains with the talent around him.

I know he's not a superstar but I would like to see more than just a game manager from our qbs.

He had a chance running a 19th century offense for the first few games, and then an offense implemented on short notice for the rest of the season.

If you think anyone but Danny is starting against BYU you're going to be disappointed.

I can only imagine the pain he endured on every hit.. Damn. My dad had a couple of herniated and/or bulging discs when I was young (had surgery later on) and I remember how excruciating it was for him. When it was flaring up sometimes all he could do was lay on the couch and his face was pale with pain.

Canada and O don't agree with you.

McMillan is 2nd team ahead of GOAT LSJ. Narcisse is 4th.

Of course, 2 weeks after Fall Camp starts, Brennan will take over #2 if he comes in at 200 pounds plus.

I doubt if McMillan or GOAT will ever see the field at QB in an LSU SEC game. (Maybe at another position or for another school)

Narcisse will probably RS because of the knees.

I don't know why people lump the Florida game as a reason why Danny can't be the guy. He didn't have a bad game and if it wasn't for Guice running the wrong way he orchestrated a beautiful drive down the field to set up that play. Including a 4th and long completion if I remember correctly.
He looked bad against Bama I agree with that. O line can be blamed for that for the most part but he had some plays he could have made just didn't. The rest of the year he was what we have wanted out of the qb position since Mett. Could be better and he could get beat out by another guy and that would be fine but if he is starting it's not the worst thing that has happened to lsu football.

Rejudge him when the real season begins and he has had a chance to get his back surgery back into shape.

Jennings won 8 games with an OL learning a new scheme, one WR with 7 catches, a true freshman as the hope of the run game, and a defense that was garbage the first half of the season.

Harris won 9 of 12 games and a nixed rent-a-win would have meant 10 of 13 with an okay at best defense and Fournette having a LSU RB goat season.

Etling won 8 of 11 games and a nixed rent-a-win would have given him 9 in 12 games with a top 10 defense and 2 RBs that averaged at least 6.5 ypc on 120+ carries each.

Pretty much if LSU doesn't have another cancelled game and Etling isn't complete garbage, we'll win 10 games.

That's not the problem.

I'd rather LSU's offense grow this year with a young and more talented QB (Scott, Narcisse, and Brennan if he is at least 190 at some point during the season), in a more modern offense than just meet expectations of 10 wins with Etling managing the game.

All that from watching half of one practice and your ouija board.

I think Etling has the potential to do good this year. Its tough to judge someone based on the spring game...if i recall correctly matt flynn threw around 5 interceptions in the spring game before 2007 season
