The vast majority of them who are ULLLLLL fans do not like LSU, and make very little effort, if any, to conceal it.
But you don't live in Lafayette do you ? I have lived here for almost 30 years and I know what I say I know.

Again, the noisy few.

Just a quick question. Why should they be expected to be LSU fans?

I don't think anyone expects them to be.

So why is it a big deal if they don't like LSU? It would be boring if we all just sucked each other's dicks all day long. Embrace the hate, it's more fun that way.

Got a bunch of friends at ull and they do have a good bit of hotties, but yea idk why they hate LSU so much but honestly why does it matter? Will they ever be on our level? No. So why worry?

When one team hasn't beaten the other EVER. It's not a rival and there shouldn't be hate.

Re-read that statement and try to find the stupidity in it

I don't expect them to be, I was responding to someone who said most most people in Lafayette support LSU.

I believe most people in Lafayette support LSU and pull for the Tigers. For some reason, the ULL supporters can't stand it. In fact, I know people who have lived in Lafayette for years and have never been to a USL/ULL football game. Over the last several years, ULL has had an anemic fan base and an apathetic student body when it came to the football program. Since the Hudspeth hire, that has changed somewhat.

My family moved to Lafayette in 1951 ( when LaFonda's was one small building) & have been a Tiger fan since Cannon's run in 1958. So I know some of the history behind ULLLL's hate. It was always simmering below the water line, due to athletics ( ULLL had the best basketball team in the state then & LSU refused to play them..that that same team had the highest number of NCAA violations in history had a bit to do with it )but it blew up when ULLLL wanted to be the State's premier (only) recognized computer school & the perception was that LSU prevented it thru its stroke in the Legislature. Then the whole ULLLL@Lafayette mess blew up even bigger when, again, it was perceived that LSU prevented it through its stroke. Leading then to the fights between the Tigers/cajuns baseball & softball fans & teams to the extent Bertman refused to play them again. But most LSU fans are more comfortable saying it's just a matter of huge penis envy.

If you doubt it,The Vermilion ran an article by someone simply saying that one could be a fan of both ULLLLLL and LSU. Read the rage from Lafayette people in the comments that follow from such an innocent suggestion:

Granted, the article was terrible. However, some of the responses were over the top.

A co-worker told me the loudest cheer during Ull's game against Tulane last Saturday was when they announced the LSU - FLA final.

I was at the game. I don't remember them ever even announcing the score, much less the loudest cheer being for the result. I didn't even hear LSU had lost till I got home.
The loudest cheer was when HUD lost his mind and almost choke slammed a ref before the s&c coach drug him back by his shirt. That dude gets unhinged when he gets mad.

LSU fans act like they are the only school in the state.
LSU is just the only good one

This mind-set is not any different than what some Northwestern, Southeastern, ULM, Tech, or any other state school thinks. I went to both SLU and LSU, if LSU and SLU play football I would cheer for LSU to win and for SLU to just be able to score. When they play baseball I just go to the game and for Basketball I cheer for SLU. The fact is in the state of Louisiana there is not another school that can compete with LSU in football, LSU is on another level. If you are a fan of one of the state schools and your team is fortunate enough to play LSU in football you should tell fans and the LSU athletic department thank you for playing us and thank you for the $600K - $800k that will cover our schools athletic budget for the next year.
