Chris Jackson is the most talented player that I have ever seen play in the PMAC. He should have his jersey hanging next to Shac, Pistol and Bob.

Does anyone think CJ would show up for his jersey retirement ceremony?

It would be tough to retire Chris Jackson's number after only two seasons although those seasons eclipsed most 4 year careers.

The only two remaining players with the statistics to justify retiring their numbers are Ronald Dupree and Tasmin Mitchell, maybe Ronnie Henderson.

Chris Jackson was hands down the greatest player I have ever seen at LSU.

I don't care about his beliefs, He would get my vote.

There are more issues than that. Since he changed his name, which name would go on the giant jersey hanging in the PMAC? Everyone knows him only as "Chris Jackson" while at LSU, but LSU would probably put Abdul-Rauf on the jersey so as to not offend him.

I am surprised Rudy, who was a great and one-time All-American, is getting the royal treatment.

You must have been too young to remember the late 1970s and early 1980s. Rudy ruled. You probably think that he doesn't deserve a retired jersey because he didn't have a notable NBA career, but that was due to the chronic back pain that he started suffering. I don't think that the doctors were ever able to figure out what was causing the pain and couldn't treat it. At least he chose to stay in Louisiana and help its kids for years through the governor's office and continued to root on LSU at the home games--that all should be worth something.

I don't think that anyone else on your list can make the cut. Chris Jackson probably came the closest, but he was only at LSU for two years and was much too distracted by politics and religion when he was in the pros to have much of a lasting impact there. If he had had a great, extended NBA career, that may have been enough to supplement his 2-year LSU career into retired jersey status.

2-year LSU career into retired jersey status.

With star players leaving early it will be hard to achieve a loftier status than CJ. Politics will be hard to overcome. But if he doesn't get in, it will be almost impossible for another to be selected.

If you want to throw all basketball players into the mix, the next person should be Seimone Augustus, and it really isn't close.

Just men, I'd go with CJ, if anyone. But, I don't really think any are worthy of having their jerseys retired.

How did UCLA do it for Lew Alcindor? I'm guessing they have his jersey retired, and he didn't change his name until after he left UCLA if memory serves.

You'd put up JACKSON on the jersey, and introduce him at the event as Abdul-Rauf.

As for whether he'd show...I'd doubt it. I'm not sure I would if I were him. Despite the tremendous memories the kid gave LSU fans, you know there would be a ton of protest and a bunch of idiots who would feel that they'd be justified in booing him at the event. I'm not sure it would be worth it...and that's a damn shame.

If we can't retire Chris Jackson's jersey, then we should hang it on the other side under a banner that says, "Most Awesome LSU Basketball Player Ever, Whose Jersey Is Not Retired."

About the graduation requirement, wasn't Pete Maravich's jersey retired after he died? Maybe that was the way around it.
