Aside from Ohio St, Michigan & just now Indiana what has the Big10 done?
Now imagine the Big10 commissioner threatening Michigan with expulsion over the stuff Harbaugh pulled off.

Disagree BUT it has to make sense
LSU should absolutely be researching possible options
LSU should absolutely be researching possible options

A lot of people/schools showed their a$$ during this process. Now you understand who's your friends and who's your enemies. Trust me, this isn't over by a long shot

The insult and actions by the SEC were egregious in their intensity, venom and contempt. A charter member and a huge brand in college athletics treated like scum is ridiculous.
However, even the B1G is not a good alternative or home for us and certainly we shouldn't lower ourselves to the ACC or Big 12. Even if the B1G were an option, we have no rivals or cultural connections. Travel would suck and playing in the frigid north in late October and November is a non-starter.
We're stuck with the SEC and they're stuck with us. If the wounds heals, and I expect they will, we can resume as the most hated of all the fan bases and programs. We can live with that as long as we are treated fairly from here on out.

Agree with staying put right now. Long term, given what we've seen from the conference brass and other members, I'm not sure we would be wise to stay if we can carve out a better spot elsewhere. Who knows what will happen. Maybe Stankey gets run off and relations improve with other members. Or, maybe the megaconference model could emerge in the next year or two if a handful of elite programs jump ship from different conferences. But for now, we should stay put and give them as much shite as possible. Fully embrace black sheep / pirate status and just run with it. They made it clear that this inquiry is personal, unrelated to any actual violations that they can enforce, and most importantly, ongoing. So they are coming for us anyway. Might as will F with them for our own amusement. We should eventually leave, but strategically.
This is THE move.

Why should we leave a conference we help found? Sounds like the commissioner is the one who needs to work for a conference that he can “have control” over.

This…..is the way.
The SEC has always treated LSU like a redheaded stepchild - they denied it. But now the cards are all on the table and their intentions are obvious. They have chummed the waters with LSU blood and there is an incredible amount of animosity against LSU among the member institutions. The feeding frenzy in the SEC rant makes that obvious.
College football is changing, we need to wait and see what changes come in the near future and look out for number one.

quote:That worm has already started its turn. Think of it this way: As many as 15 schools teamed up against LSU over the past couple of weeks. They were egged on by Plowman's cliquish behavior and sophomoric logic. They had a plan. But as Tyson says, everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.
You think LSU should want to be in a conference that treats it like a second class citizen?
Yesterday their "plan" got shutdown, cold-turkey.
Now then, if a conference member packs resources to handle itself 1 against 15, is that a party you really want on the other side of future disagreements? Similarly, if the clique leader urges participants down a primrose path, only to see the entire 15 member group stymied by the sole member they were targeting, is that a leader the group will want to follow again? So the lines will get redrawn

Would it be possible to think if LSU would leave for another conference like the Big XII, that LSU would elevate that conference and make the rest of the conference better? With the brand and the money it would bring in. I mean had it not been for LSU and the run Alabama had I don’t think the SEC would be where it is today.

I don’t advocate leaving, but I think it’s clear this conference’s foundation isn’t as solid as it used to be. LSU should be open to hearing other options behind the scenes. That doesn’t mean we have to rub anything in the SEC‘s face, in fact all exploration should be done without the SECs knowledge. Unfortunately, I don’t trust LSU‘s position in the SEC long-term anymore. As I said before, that will be Greg Sankey‘s legacy. He’s the one who caused the first serious rift in this conference in its nearly 100-year history.

LSU was walking close to the line and taking a risk and the SEC wanted to enforce their rules. I don't blame LSU at all but they knew the SEC wouldn't sit back
Conceding your point about LSU walking close to the line, for the sake of argument, the fact is, if Bama had done the same thing (instead of LSU), nary a word would’ve been said by the SEC. In fact, I tend to think the conference might’ve even quietly supported Bama. And I think that’s what most people have an issue with…the blatant corruption and double standard.

Honestly, after all of this, I think the LSU administration would be remiss if they didn’t at least start exploring possibilities via back channels. You know, just to have all the ducks in a row.

quote:This is how I see it. I think it's solely anti-LSU for many reasons. The main reason is for LSU not to be recognized or get in that position to be recognized as a big 3 the way Mich-Ohio ST-Penn ST are recognized in the B1G. - Pecking order matters and with Texas, OU, Alabama, LSU, UGA, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn, the top 4 teams would probably be considered Tier 1, and the next 4, Tier 2. LSU and UGA are similar, and one would be tier1 while the other tier 2. The cant have LSU recognized as tier 1 and the other 4 as tier 2.
But now the cards are all on the table and their intentions are obvious.
And that's just looking at it through the football lens. When looked at it through the (all sports and football combined) lens, the big 3 are (Texas, OU, LSU).

The rift between Bobby Dodd and Bear Bryant was more serious than this, and actually caused Georgia Tech to leave the league when the SEC school presidents voted against Rule 140.
I know it was a different era, but playing the victim card and storming out the door didn't work out in the long run for GT, regardless of how justified they were. All it did was eventually make Dodd, Bryant, and the SEC regret that it ever happened.
Sankey looks like a fool right now, and will be gone sooner than later. There's no need for LSU to make any emotionally driven decisions just because the SEC did.
