Going to the two team tiebreaker would only apply if say LSU and Ole Miss were both 4-8 against the multiple teams tied.
this is my interpretation of the tie-breaker as well.
Assuming Auburn wins their series, Bama wins at least 1 vs USC, LSU sweeps State, Ole Miss wins 2/3 vs Arky....I think we are left out of Hoover.

I'm pretty sure clamdip has this right on, this is how i interpret it as well. a lot would have to happen to come to this unlikely scenario. we just gotta take care of our business startin tonight in starkvegas

FWIW, I originally thought it was the other way as well. But I read on one of the SE Baseball message boards that said it isn't.

yeah, i went back and read the SEC tiebreakers info and still think i'm correct. we'll see. (or most likely won't)

LSU does not control it's own destiny. This has been stated mutltiple times by multiple sources (Advocate, radio). We must sweep and we need help in the form of one of 3 scenarios. Ole Miss winning 2 of 3 from Ark is the most likely. That's what has been reported all week.

LSU to Rose Bowl!

My thinking is this would be terrible for LSU and would probably leave us out of the SEC tournament even if we sweep.
We have to sweep, that is a given. Other than that, we need one of the following three things to happen:
1. Any result in the Arky-Ole Miss series EXCEPT Ole Miss winning 2/3
2. USC sweeps Alabama
3. Tenn sweeps Auburn

We need anything other than Ole Miss winning 2/3 OR USC to sweep Alabama.
I guess we'll find out soon. Forgive me if I do trust the official reports a bit more than our Rant experts. But, then again, it wouldn't be the initial time that "you heard it here first."

Get that cock outta your eyes and read clamdip's post on how it all plays out.

this is my interpretation of the tie-breaker as well.
The tiebreaker thing has me a wondering. I really think that it is the simpler case that gets used.
What if LSU wins all 3, Ole Miss takes 2/3 from Arkansas, Bama loses 2/3 to South Carolina, and Auburn loses 2/3 to Tennessee? All 5 teams are 14-16.
Method 1) Do you use a 5 team tiebreaker to reduce it to 4 teams, then a 4 team tiebreaker to reduce it to 3, then a 3 team tiebreaker to reduce it to 2, then a 2 team tiebreaker?
Method 2) Go with the results of the 5 team tiebreaker and only use an additional tiebreaker if some teams are still tied?
I believe that method 2 is what gets used and the same logic applies to a simpler 3 team tiebreaker.
If this question ever gets answered, I don't want LSU to be the test case

I see the reasononing in their thinking, but nonetheless I think they are wrong. If Ole Miss wins 2/3, I believe we get left out of Hoover. (assuming Auburn and Bama win at least one game each).
It never comes down to the two-team head-to-head with the first tie-breaker IMO (head-to-head would only be used if Ole Miss and LSU had the same record against the tied teams).

Well, I said "I think" this is the case. If I'm right, I just got lucky on the coin flip...

so have you changed your mind on the 3-way tie between Arky/LSU/OleMiss?

No, but I think misread your other post at first. For a 5 way or 4 way tie, LSU finishes last.
But if it's only a 3 way tie between those teams, then Arkansas & LSU would be ahead of Ole Miss.

But when Arkansas wins that 3 way tie, only 2 teams are left, which moves to the head to head tiebreaker.
This doesn't come into account with a 4 or 5 way tie.
