You don’t need to imply something when you literally say it word-for-word

Yeah, true, but those of us that listened knew exactly what he meant.
If you thought he was literally guaranteeing that we were gonna beat the heck out of Florida state I don’t know what to tell ya. Cause you and I both know that’s not what he meant.

Coach speak can be kinda crazy at times. You want to pump up the crowd—unless it backfires.

It’s a nothingburger…
He meant the plan this week and every week is to go beat the heck out of our opponent.
As it should be.

I don't know how factual the OP is but if we assume it's true, you can't go around saying you never said we'd "beat the heck out of Florida St" when you indeed said that word for word.

He did state it to a radio show to LSU fans.
I was totally wrong. '
but, it was mentioned for the LSU fans. He wasn't stating it harshly in his words towards the FSU team or coaches.
People look for the slightest thing to use as an excuse for a loss.
We got outcoach and out played in that game. Period.

GA TigerAccording to Jacques Doucet Kelly said he never said LSU would beat the heck out of FSU
I’ve seen a lot of talk about this but never saw a video or direct quote from BK

I agree. Perhaps the only thing worse than losing a big game is not having an all-consuming drive to win it. Because then you’d eventually find yourself losing in the long run anyway

Yeah he shouldn’t have said it, and this thread is exactly why. It gets taken way out of context from what he meant.
I agree he shouldn’t have said it, but rational people know what he meant.

I heard him say it live. He wasn't making a prediction as many have assumed. He was saying, in effect, let's get after them.
Much ado about nothing.
I am looking forward to LSU getting better as the season progresses.

OK. I haven't heard it. What was the context?

You MF'ers are the type of people who would bitch about someone handing out $5 on the street corner.
Posted on 9/5/23 at 6:29 pm to GA Tiger
It was said at a lsu radio show with drunk fans. Nothing more than playing to the crowd.

But if you say it, own it. Don't claim you didn't say something that you said word for word (again, I don't know if that's the case, just going off of the OP)

He 10000% said it. I was in the car listening to the talk show and couldn’t believe he actually said it. Was it taken out of context? Possibly but it was still said

So you were listening and you heard it, but you don't know whether it was taken out of context? Do you know what taking something out of context means?
Look, I haven't heard it, so I'm not saying anything either way, but I know what a knitting circle this board can be.

“Going” as in we’re going down there to beat the heck out of FSU. Poor phrasing that easily is read to mean we’re “gonna” go beat the heck out of FSU. None of it matters if we win. But u gotta be smart with ur words these days.
