Oh yeah no doubt! My preferred method in the mid to late 80's was the doubled up gallon ziploc. Never failed. LOL

Honestly, if you take away the 2007 Florida game, nothing has come even close to what we saw back in 80's and 90's.

Ah, great memories! I was at this game, it was my freshman year at LSU. I might have been in that video as I was about 10 rows up in the student section. I remember getting pelted with oranges thrown from above and leaving the stadium with pulp in my hair.

Good times!

I was a few rows behind you then......but I was busy picking off the guys that were climbing the goalposts with oranges.

I was a GBFTL Bass Drummer in 82. Did a Bass Drum
solo during "Big Noise from Winnetka" in that game.

It was a strange game.

"The Fog" in the second half. Don't go into the Fog.

Everybody throwing Oranges after every TD.

Idiots were actually throwing the portable Chair Backs after the game too!

I was only a year old at that time. Why were they throwing oranges? I'm sure there was some segnificance to it.

I wonder if that guy in the green shirt with the glasses has any eligibility left?

This was near the twilight of early bowl selections and very few conference tie-ins (other than conference champions). It was announced the week of the game that the winner of the Florida State-LSU game would go to the Orange Bowl and the loser would go to the Gator Bowl.

At the time the Big 8 Champion would go to the Orange Bowl. More times than not the season ending Nebraska-Oklahoma game would decide their champion and Orange Bowl representative. The winning team's fans would pelt the playing field with oranges and our fans followed suit.

Remember it well. My freshman year. I was in the stands and went down on the field. I was wearing a white oxford shirt and khakis, stood not to far from the NEZ goal posts :)

I think one reason for the bedlam is because this was LSU's first major bowl invite since the '74 Orange (loss to Penn State).

Still remains one of the loudest pregames EVER in DV history. (The 2003 UGA game, 2007 Fla. game, 2001 Auburn game, 2000 Tenn. and 2012 bama game Pregames come close :)

Somewhat agree, though the 2003 UGA game, 2007 Va.Tech game, 2011 Arkansas game, and all the DV Auburn and Bama games in the 2000s come close, and the 2014 Ole Miss game.
I will say without hesitation however, that had we held on against the MulliGumpNecks in 2012, that would have been EPIC........

I was down there (with my now wife). Cop came over and told us to get off of field. Students on field were throwing oranges back into the stands. Fans in stands got tired of being hit with them, so they started throwing the game-by-game seatbacks (canvas between metal support frame) at the students on the field. Rather than go into friendly fire, the cop let us exit from the south gate.

I went home with two souvenirs. Tim Joiner's hip pad (left at LSU bench after he suffered a hip pointer) and an Indian headdress with feathers. Mike used to do a little skit before games to fire up the crowd. Before the game, he assaulted what we originally thought was the Florida State mascot. All a set up.

That was great, though. After the game the Florida State cheerleaders were freaking out. They didn't know what was about to happen.

It was an LSU student dressed up like a Seminole :)When the costumed Mike stole his arrow and broke it in half, the entire student section literally all cumulatively jumped in the air and went absolutely NUTS. That game also may have been the LOUDEST Pre-game/Hold That Tiger EVERRRR. It was deafening....

That was my first game to witness in Tiger Stadium as a fourteen year old. It is weird watching that footage now. My most clear memory is this drunk guy who was probably in his 50's pacing behind us with an open pint of Jack. Cursing his arse off.

Probably how 90% of LSU fans remember their first game regardless of era.

Yeah that is deeply ingrained in my memory. The view from the SE corner of the fog was absolutely epic. I can literally remember it slowly creeping in over the top of the stadium in the NW corner.

Remember this like it was yesterday too. I was losing my mind on the other side of the stadium from y'all as well.
