Don't jump down my throat if I'm wrong, but wouldn't A&M defeating Bama and losing to Ole Miss be the best scenario in the long run for us? That way LSU remains the only undefeated team in the West.

Yes it is but unlikely. I think they'll get one of them.

This wouldn't be too bad, except that A&M and Ole Miss would each have one loss in this scenario, meaning our games against each of them would both be must-wins unless they were to lose another SEC game. If A&M beats both, our only must-win game is A&M at home.

Ole Miss does still have to play at Mississippi State, and the home team usually has the edge in the Egg Bowl, FWIW.

Ahhh I guess that does make sense.

Obviously the best scenario would be if LSU wins out and of course this is a possibility; however, since this has happened zero times over most of our lifetimes and only once did they get to the last game unbeaten the odds are not good.

I've been debating with myself about which team's loss would help LSU the most and at this point it is impossible to say.

Therefore, I've chosen to not worry about that until 11-7-15 and we probably will not have a clear picture then either. Beating the Gators is paramount, although the Tigers will continue to control "getting to Atlanta" even with a loss.

What trophy do we get for being the only undefeated team in the SEC in the middle of October? Screw that. I want to win the West. A&M beating Alabama makes that more likely. Gig 'Em Aggies.

I think it sets LSU up to win the SEC if the Aggies lose.

True, but this sets up the Bama game as the must-win, since Bama would be going into it with only one loss. Just depends on which game you'd like to have that pressure, since the only realistic way to avoid any must-win games is to have your scenario happen and also have Bama lose to Tennessee.

When I see "A&M" and "dirty work" in the same sentence, the expression "mud on the helmet" comes to mind.

Look i'd love for all the dominoes to fall our way, but at some point we are just going to have to take matters into our own hands and win the games on our schedule.

I think people recognize that playing Bama, Ole Miss and A&M in a four-week span, with two of them on the road, will be very tough, and want a way to survive a potential loss in that stretch. Particularly at Bama, considering our recent history in that series. The OP's scenario allows us to win the West while losing to one of Bama or Ole Miss, at the cost of making A&M a must-win game.

You and I agree on this. Like I said in the other thread. The more I look at the schedule the more I believe that if we lose to Bama its an uphill climb no matter what and that WHEN we win that game the SECw is ours to lose.

Lsu and a&m will meet up undefeated as the new game of the centry. But this will be more entertaining than bamma/lsu a few years ago. The winner will win the sec and the natty.

I'm going to re-post what I said in the other thread since you and Haydel are apparently ignoring it there:

There are 3 teams that control their own destiny in the west relative to LSU:
Alabama
Ole Miss
Texas A&M

If Alabama beats Texas A&M, there will STILL BE THREE TEAMS IN THE WEST THAT CONTROL THEIR OWN DESTINY RELATIVE TO LSU:
Alabama
Ole Miss
Texas A&M

If Texas A&M beats Alabama, then there will only be two teams that control their own destiny relative to LSU:
Texas A&M and Ole Miss

Let's go a step further and include Ole Miss in this-
If Texas A&M beats Alabama and Ole Miss:
Texas A&M controls its own destiny against LSU

If Texas A&M loses to Alabama and Ole Miss:
Alabama and Ole Miss control their own destiny against LSU

If Texas A&M loses to Alabama and beats Ole Miss:
Texas A&M and Alabama control their own destiny against LSU.

Short recap:
After this weekend, every scenario has at least 2 teams controlling their own destiny as to LSU.
The scenario you are hoping for has 3 teams that do so, including Alabama. There is another scenario that includes only 2 teams, with neither of those teams being Alabama.

Even shorter:
Hoping for 3 games against teams who are playing for a championship instead of 2 is stupid, especially if one of those 3 is LSU's toughest game.
