Who was the complete moron who started this thread a month or so ago? He claimed to be reaching out to all these tiger zoo keepers and he was going to get us all the answers. Even though he was given all the answers in his thread, but refused to believe them.
I'm guessing he was told exactly what he was told in the thread and then just decided to let his thread fade away into the TD ocean of threads, and hope we forgot.

You are embarrassing yourself. Mike absolutely roared at times. Many an opposing player talks about it. I heard it with my own ears once.

It would be cool if we could meet in the middle and be allowed to bring him on the field for one game a year. It could be a dramatic build up for everyone and a newish old tradition.

And, if like yall have said that the fireworks or shooting the cannon off when the team runs out causes him such stress, then stop the damn fireworks and cannons. Mike’s infinitely better than those two.
Why not have both?
Six pages of bitching back and forth, but no proposals for a solution to the problem. I'm an idea man.
If Mike is a pussy who gets "stressed out" from loud noises, he just needs to be conditioned to his surroundings. Maybe a brief fireworks show, with cannon fire, in his habitat a few days a week. LSU could even pump in some crowd noise to ready him for game day. Reward him for good behavior with his favorite red meat. He'll be salivating like Pavlov's dog in no time! I think this could work! And if it doesn't, no great loss - he wasn't getting of his cage anyway.
Once Mike is properly conditioned, I also think the mesh should be removed from the bars of his trailer. It would improve visibility and give Mike the opportunity to stick his paws out of the cage and legitimately scare the shite out of anyone who wanders too close. The cheerleaders might have to stop dangling their legs over the front of the trailer, but that would be a small price to pay for improved visibility for the fans.
As far as LSU Vets being animal mind readers goes, this would be a better argument if Mike were a horse or cow, which they have the opportunity to treat often. How many Tigers do the treat? One. That's a pretty small sample size.
Unfortunately, I don't think a month will be long enough to train Mike for this season. But next season? It could happen!

As previously stated, I'm an idea man ...
Think a tunnel leading to the 50 yard line, with a pit under the Eye of the Tiger. The eye drops on an elevator and the rises with Mike! Think Gladiator!
The crowd would go wild. You'd probably need some long chains to keep him from eating someone, but if TAF can build a tunnel and elevator, they can figure out the chain thing.

How bout running around with a fricking bison?
I mean shite, we saw the Schooner from Oklahoma tip over and could’ve seriously injured some people.
We ought to get rid of all tradition in the name of progress.

When I was living in Montgomery, I met a guy that played for the Bear. We got into a talk about different traditions that SEC schools had. He knew about the "rag" that Tulane and LSU had. He then told me that LSU would park the tiger very close to the visiting team's tunnel. He said that waiting for the team to enter the field the live tiger in his cage was constantly being teased by him and his teammates. He said that they threw ice at him and make sounds that the tiger probably didn't hear before. He said that when he was a senior his teammates really were teasing the heck out of the tiger. He said that they could never make that tiger roar. He said that teasing that tiger was fun to do. He said that the tiger never roared despite getting ice and water on him. He said that the Bear saw the teasing and he told his team to let the tiger alone and if they didn't he would pull the player out of a game for several minutes. I told him that even though the Bear threatened his players if the game was very close there is no way that the Bear would pull his players out.

That practice is outdated and stressful to Mike.
He doesn't look stressed at all in that pic.

Did they ever force him in the cage?
Yes, on his sluggish days they’d taser him to move in the cage.
