Agreed. Enough with the excuses, it's pathetic. jr33 is making good points and they're painfully obvious. We have ZERO semblance of an offense and the defense isn't much better.
The program is pretty much at an all time low. The 20pt loses are disgusting. A couple here and there are acceptible (i guess) but now they're as common as a Stringer 40' jump shot.
I hope as much as anyone that Trent turns it around but there needs to be changes in several phases.

Hahahahaha, I really want to see this "proof." He may be 6'10", but that statement was laughable.

Yea it's one thing when it's UK beating our brains in with multiple NBA players but it's pathetic when it's Arky, Alabama, and North Texas who might have one or two D-leaguers combined.

But he has recruits that fart miracles. And he doesn't stomp his feet and get mad when players screw up. Oh, and he's building relationships with young recruits, so firing him would totally ruin the 2017 recruiting class.

I wanna be counted as a TJ apologist just so i can throw this along with other threads in yall face in 2 years, cool?
Posted on 2/15/11 at 7:22 pm to josh336
That's totally fine. If he makes me eat crow, LSU will be good. That's all I want. I'm just finding it harder to believe he is the guy to make it happen.

So by year 5 is when we'll be competitive, good or great? Not arguing here but do we have to wait till year 5 or 4 years removed from a good season to be good?

I just can't look at someone with his track record and think he's a shitty coach. Also, he has talent coming in.
Posted on 2/15/11 at 7:41 pm to josh336
I don’t know that he's shitty, but he is making a case for it. I just think he has dug a huge hole and fallen arse over elbows into it. He needs to show something positive or be shown the door. He'll survive it.

Good at Nevada and OK at Stanford, it's not such a great track record that he's fail-proof.

Typical rant logic: If you won't commit to a knee jerk reaction and want the guy fired right now, you're a TJ apologist. Being optimistic about the future of the program isn't being an apologist. I don't want to be wrong because I want our program to improve but if I am wrong, I'll happily come on here next year and admit as much.
But it's the same stupid fricks on this board crying about the basketball coach to get fired when every single person on this board realizes that he won't be fired. But they're unwilling to sit back and let the course of events shake out. They have to continue telling people to prove it and have angry, disgruntled, jobless old men using the bold function like their shortbus comment even made sense.

He let a recruiting class go bye so he could start from the ground up.
As of late the correlation between smart players and good teams has never been stronger.
Mid-Majors have partially become competitive due to having upper-classmen as opposed to major schools having players leaving the second someone sells em on the idea that they can be pro.(ecspecially the uber-athletic, socio-economicly challenged, average deep south player)
I think Trent has a vision of being different (in a good way) than simply being the best of the SEC West. And I believe there is a good chance that if he gets through next year, we will enjoy perhaps the best era of LSU basketball ever.
The talent is coming, but for the first time since the early nineties we will have:
Depth
Trent's first year was fabulous, and the North Carolina game was the most powerful example of DEPTH i've ever seen.
Our boys hung in there like champs. But then fresh bodies came back in (All-Americans)
Even our last Final 4 loss was a lesson in DEPTH. We didn't have a true PG, and Tyrus AND Big Baby were on the bench with fouls.
The really good players will be 2 aqnd done. It may be the perfect design to have Turner and Derenbrecker as seniors playing their ROLE.
Unfortunately, we are untolerably bad this year; hence making next year DO or DIE. I'll take that bet.

There is a part of me that would not be overly surprised to see Joe make a change after this season. Yet, there is also a part of me that would not be overly surprised to see TJ hang around for another year and if no progress, then Joe makes a change. My gut feeling is that something will need to give this next season or it's curtains for Trent.

However there are numerous players on this team that do not play smart and it's not just because they're young.

That's about my view now Jester. He dug the hole with his recruiting/evaluation choices the first two years and with the talent limitations now mostly his responsibility, any good coaching attributes that may be there are hard to see.
He'll be here next year but time to show us something. And I'm not rationalizing until he does.

I'm screaming LALALALA as loud as I can while I jam these down both earholes. Everything's gonna be OK, sooner than y'all may think.

Coming from the guy who has a photo of j. jones. The same jones who got lsu on probation for his recruitment of lester earl. which, started the dismantling of the b.b. program. The same Jones who didn't win at north texas until year five. oh, the irony.

This season is as bad as it gets.
Have you completely forgotten last season? 11 wins - 2 in conference, plenty of 20 point losses.
I'd like to see more production out of this team, but I expect to see vast improvement next year. If not, I'd have no problem with making a coaching change.
