quote:and you know this how? Shep needs lot of work on his pass catching, but it can be done, and like I said the kid has been out the loop for awhile because of the suspension, but nothing is impossible, hell, he pulled down a really tough pass yesterday that was high over his head that Lee threw to him. He is not built body wise to be a RB, but he can defintely develop into what Beckham is, a receiver that catches and makes people miss with his running ability!!
he will never be what Odell is.

Shep drops a ton of stuff, but I wonder how many of those are accurate throws? Granted a WR is there to catch it no matter what and bail out his QB, but some of those throws were just not the best. I get the feeling Lee still doesn't have much chemistry throwing to Shep.

yeah that catch on the sidelines was right in his numbers. Moron
+1
But I still can’t understand why RS is not used more as a "D McCluster" type back? Maybe we will see more when we get into the big SEC Games but man what a waste of talent if he's not used more to stretch the field!!!

If he (Randle) had run out that first long ball, it would have been a TD.
I still can't believe that Randle stopped and came back to a ball only to have it sail over his head and land about where he would have been if he would have kept running. He just seems like he is not getting any better.

Lee still throws off his back foot a lot, a lot of those throw were bad, high and stuff.

I'm not in the "if it hits your hands you should catch it" camp, but all great receivers catch a large portion of those.

I'm not quite ready to write Shep off. He can catch, we've all seen it. He just needs to figure out how to be more friggin' consistent. It’s already been said, but he’ll drop four that he ought to catch and then make one pretty spectacular grab. He just has to figure out how to make that “one out of five” event become a “three out of five” event.

Just because a receiver can get his hands on a ball doesn't mean it is a drop.
Fair is fair. There were some drops and the receivers bailed Lee out a few times also. RR in double coverage bailed him out. RS on the sideline and OBJ also made a catch on a badly thrown ball. You can't blame the receivers for every drop sometimes badly thrown balls are labeled drops.
JJ had habit of throwing balls into the ground and JL seems to throw high(back foot throws0. If JJ had thrown those passes yesterday I am sure we would be hearing how we need a QB that can hit the receivers in stride.

I kind of have to agree with this. If Shep can't play WR, then he won't see the field much at al. He just doesn't fit in the game plan otherwise.
Maybe he'll be in the backfield more doing read option with JJ or Ware, but it would be sad if that's the only way that he could contribute.

Shep is good for the speed sweep, that's it

i think the receivers are just in shock when a ball hits them in the hands since they havent had a catchable ball for the last 3 years.

On the pass when Randle stopped short, I think the sun might have given him a problem.
Part of Shep's problem seems to be that he doesn't judge the flight of the ball correctly.

I had several people around me yesterday saying the same thing. JJ returns and all if a sudden our receivers start dropping balls.
