JUst saw this headline on the ESPN home page:

LSU fans deride AD during SEC title-clinching rout

quote:

BATON ROUGE, La. -- With the SEC title on the line in a matchup against Vanderbilton Saturday night, fans showered LSUathletic director Joe Alleva with loud boos and expletive-filled chants at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

With coach Will Wade suspended and standout Javonte Smart sidelined in connection with the FBI's massive investigation of college basketball, fans screamed, "F--- Alleva!" and "Joe Must Go!" as the athletic director walked to his seat for the 80-59 win that clinched the SEC title for the Tigers.

They harmonized with the band and made up songs to call for Alleva's ouster, too. They turned a chant from the "Wizard of Oz" (oh-we-oh) into "A-LLE-VA AHHH-Leeva sucks!"

quote:

Fans held up "Free Will Wade" signs and chanted, "Free Javonte!" throughout the game.
The chants changed to "L-S-U! L-S-U!'' after the Tigers (26-5, 16-2) won the SEC regular-season title for the first time in over a decade.

As the players took turns cutting down the net after the game to celebrate, the loudest cheers by far were reserved for Smart.

From the AP game recap:

quote:

When nearly 14,000 fans packing the bowl-shaped Pete Maravich Assembly Center weren't passionately demonstrating solidarity with the players, they were protesting LSU's administration.

Boos and chants of "Joe must go!" rained down from the student section and other corners of the arena when athletic director Joe Alleva walked to his seat a few rows up from the sideline. Fans also called Alleva a "coward," the implication being that LSU rushed to suspend its coach before it had conclusive evidence of wrongdoing.

Fans held up signs reading, "Free Will Wade," and "Free Javonte Smart," the freshman guard and former Louisiana player of the year who apparently was referred to in the 2017 call recorded by the FBI and did not suit up.

"People cheering and protesting, whatever's going on, it's a college atmosphere," Graves said. "We have great fans. We play for a great state and we do our best to represent them."

Amid protest and cheers, LSU beats Vandy to claim SEC title

I agree.

I guess the thing that pleased me the most is that they're featuring the story on the home page.

Our side is finally starting to get out there.

If enough eyes see it, the narrative could well shift to Alleva pulling another Duke Lacrosse at Wade's expense, resulting in Wade being freed and ridding us of Alleva.

Especially if after the trial there is nothing else that comes out implicating Wade in anything.

but Wade is on tape. Twice.

I despise Aleeva as much as anybody, but this is nothing like the Duke thing.

You sure about that?

Neither you nor I know what if anything else will come of this. Wade is not under investigation and Alleva should have deferred until after the trial to take any action aside from issuing a statement that LSU is aware of the situation and will comment further at an appropriate time (after the trial).

And FWIW, Duke Lacrosse looked much worse than this when Alleva fired their coach. Look how that turned out.

That's why criminal defendants are innocent until proven guilty.

This is not a narrative.
The narrative has not shifted.
This is a news story that covered one aspect of events at Saturday’s game.

So sick of you and fans like you with this retard attitide. Morons like you are why we are stuck with alleva for as long as we have been. This type of incompetence should be unacceptable.

Saying what exactly? I’ve read what he said and unless more exist it’s a big fat nothing.

this isn’t a court of law. Employers have to make decisions based on the known facts long before legal proceedings conclude, which often takes years.

Thanks Captain Obvious.

Hence why I went out of my way to differentiate between this situation and a criminal defendant.

The same principle applies.

This is the dumb part. If we don’t suspend Wade and Smart, people will talk a little about us winning the SEC, but most of the press would be about Antonio Brown and other basketball games going on. And it would be forgotten except by commentators who need something to talk about during games.

By taking this course of action, it’s kept in the press. And it will be brought back up every time we play. And when we finally bring back Smart. And when Wade leaves (because there is no coming back from this). And it’ll come back up when we search for a new coach.

Just a dumb move from a narrative perspective.

Exactly.

And if there is something to the story, the damage is already done. Play out the season and take our lumps at the end.

On tape saying what?

The chasm between saying a great expletive offer and being proven you paid a player to sign is facking huge.

As great and magical as this team is, the issue isn't just the handling of Will Wade and and an illegally leaked clip, or whether weak administrative strategies will cost LSU a national championship. Joe Alleva's actions and words have been questionable well before his coming to LSU and the same can be said of F.K. Alexander. Neither one seems to have improved with their experiences here. Look up their histories and particularly each of their individual willingnesses to sacrifice their colleagues and subordinates to momentarily prevailing correctness.

Neither seems interested in Louisiana culture or tradition, or in what the people who pay their salaries believe. The consideration that is uppermost for both of these bureaucrats is staying invisible in the socially conscious media in the hopes of hanging on until a more socially respectable job offer comes along.

It is not the responsibility of the State of Louisiana to provide a haven for SJW's in waiting.

No, firing Alleva could absolutely be a way back from this.

He's been against Wade since Friday. Nothing to say when this came out months ago. Our entire AD are cowards. They don't even have the balls to fire a black woman straight stealing from the University.
