Justin"s mom was a LeBlanc, and he worked as a safety man in the plants before becoming a celebrity. He made a apperance on the Johnny Carson show, and was on Hollywood Squares

I remember listening to his LP's before his cooking show ever came out (dang, I'm old).

But yeah, it was pretty obvious that the accent was put on. I don't think I've ever met a coon arse (or anyone else really) that talked like that.

Dude was pretty good entertainer though.

I believe that from the standpoint of, say, Lockport, Amite or Minnesota, not much difference there.

This is probably a valid point

You must have loved all his shows then, cuz he added wine to everything lol. Another great long louisiana tradition, along side Buckskin Bill, that is sorely missed. Monday morning march anyone?

I think his mother was Cajun.

You're apparently not that much In The Know. He was born and raised in Tangipahoa Parish. His father, Harry D. Wilson, was the Ag Commissioner during the Long years. There's a building named for Harry D. Wilson on the LSU campus.

Very true. I met him near the end of his life at a social function of some kind, and he didn't sound like a Cajun at all.

I remember the first time I heard one of his records.

I laughed for a long time.

I still remember the HALO STATUE story.

He was nice to me. As a young safety engineer he taught me a lot about getting to know the people you were trying to protect.
RIP JUSTIN! I GUARANTEE!

As a Cajun cook, I knew Justin. He was a comedian first but people who did not know Cajun culture did not get the jokes, so He became a funny Cajun cook!
