A few years ago for Christmas my daughter colored a picture of Leonard Fournette and mailed to him at the LSU Athletics office along with a picture of Rudolph and a Christmas card she hand wrote

A few months passed and we had not heard anything then one day in the mail she get a card thanking her. It was "written" and "signed" by LF7 himself.

Now, I'll never know if he wrote the card or not. Whether it was done by some staffer or not doesnt really matter. To her, it was real and it made her day. She still talks about it to this day and every time I am watching a game she will come sit with me and ask me if Fournette is playing and compares every LSU player to him.

Congrats ! Takes a big heart to make ypthat step, but nothing more rewarding.

I hesitated to share this little story, cause really about an older son now. He was 5 when we had to move to TX, but the Purple & Gold was instilled in him from the time he was crawling. You never know just what really sticks as they are growing up.

He graduated form hs in 2003 & was a pretty good, albeit, smaller QB. We had gone to a few camps in BR & while there was interest, the 105 was full. He was assure a preferred walk-on spot in the spring, but did not want to sit out his freshman year. We. It a deal with Dinardo at Indiana. I dropped him in Bloomington, returned home, only to have the phone ring 3 days later. “We had a QB leave the program. Get him over here right way so we can fit equip & be ready for practice tomorrow”.

Debated if I was going to tell him. He had already practiced, so the Tiger dream passed him, us, by. He had a great fresh year, making the travel squad. None of that would have happen in Tigerland, butthe little shite would be wearing a NC ring today ??

He returned to TX & graduated at a smaller school, then went on to coach & play in Europe for a few years. Was a GA at a D-1 school for a year before moving on to use his education.

A little over a year ago, I get an email, “Well Dad, I,m finally a Tiger!”. What ?!! He had enrolled in grad school in BR, commuted from Dallas with a wife, three kids & a business to maintain.

You never know. Obviously, he got the message as a youngster; much more than I realized. He finished his Master’s this past semester. One proud papa here. Such a trip to see the grandkids dressed in purple & gold on game day. Harry Chaplin wrote a great song that says it all.

Here’s to all the Tiger families out there?? I am sure I am not alone with such memories.

This thread made me think of this little one from a few years back. Check out the roar at the 22 second mark.

Watching both my LSU cheerleader daughters lead to Tigers out the chute in Tiger Stadium. What an incredible moment.
