I can’t tell y’all how much better I feel about our chances to get to Omaha after the pitching the last two games.

Cooper, ackenhausen, and Hurd have looked the best they’ve looked this year. We may have crews coming out of this slump considering he’s gone like 3-8 or 9 over the last two games and we’ve had 23 hits over the last two games combined. Skenes pitched his worst game and we almost won yesterday.

I would guess that we probably got more hits off of those two pitchers combined yesterday than anyone has this year.

Idk, I just feel better about the team after going 1-1 so far than I did after the sweep of Alabama .

It just feels like a corners been turned.
Also, Morgan has hit the ball hard about 20 abs in a row it feels like, they just started to fall yesterday .

We may have found our third starter and that makes us hard to beat

I will never get excited about a loss. I will pull for this team no matter what, but they do have to get rid of errors and get timely hitting with runners in scoring position.

Good thing nobody said they were excited about the loss. You dont have to win in order for good things to be revealed. Baseball has so many small details that can impact the outcome of a game. If you only look at the win loss column you arent getting the bigger picture.

This part is interesting to me not because of what you said, but what you DIDNT say. And your omission only proves that we are improving at the right time.

You didnt mention the BIGGEST weakness of this team, the bullpen. Thats because yesterday Cooper came in and shut down one of the best teams in the country and gave LSU a chance to win. If you cant be happy or excited about the progress that the bullpen has made over the last several games, then that is on you.

This tournament means jack shite to the top 4 seeds as we all have national seeds locked up. Its about setting up for the big dance. I like where we are at.

A rough Skenes outing, fluke catcher’s interference, and 17 Ks and we still had Tommy White up to bat as a tying run in the 9th

This team has the fight in them which is exactly what we need down the stretch

This was definitely Skenes’ “least impressive”performance as a Tiger. It seems fairly obvious his performance had a lot to do with him knowing going into the game that he was on a limited pitch count & wouldn’t be going longer than 5-ish or so innings & 80/90 pitches total.

The 2 Lefty’s from Arkansas are NASTY & LSU won’t see another Lefty as good as either of those dudes until maybe the Super Regional. I just hope LSU has a shot at 1 or both of these guys again in Omaha!!

They’ve done this all year

Is this the first time you’ve tuned in since march??

I swear it’s like some of y’all have a random baseball cliche generator and you spin it, and just roll with whatever it lands on

I feel the same way. There has been some very encouraging things the last two days.

What still scares me is our bad defense can really let us down at key moments. Our defense rarely makes the extra play that helps the pitcher out, and many times, whether by defensive positioning or an actual error, we extend innings and gift base runners. The poor base running reared its ugly head yesterday as well. Not only do we not grab extra bases on the base paths, we some times run into outs helping the other team.

We could start a bingo card game from this. Unfortunately, during games all the cards would be filled within a matter of minutes.

So they have to be like every other team in the country?

Its not like they were barreling up Skenes either. The 2 rbi hit before the catchers interference looked like a double play ball. Slow chopper just out of reach from skenes

I think people are being kinda hard on travinski for the baserunning blunder. I mean, he really just kinda slipped

. This. Yes it’s good that some of the pitchers appear to coming around but man they still have to get some basic things fixed to expect any kind of post season run, not the least of which are timely hitting and errors like you say.

Same here minus Travenski's base running blunder that cost us a run (but the guy is hitting a ton so). Still need to manufacture runs better to take advantage of opportunities.
