gotta keep an eye on Josh Nesbitt, the Yellow Jackets QB, and Jonathan Dwyer, their option RB.

0:41 mark and 1:15 mark

interesting drop back by the qb in the first one. i can see how a defense would bite on that

yeah, Paul Johnson has always had an effective attack like this year at GA Tech.

I've watched GT all year being a GT fan and I must say the biggest thing outside of playing your assignment on defense is tackling is at a PREMIUM. I'd go to say almost 80% of their big plays simply come off of poor tackling, you must wrap up.

Similar to UGA, if we don't wrap up we're toast. We really did a terrible job of that late in the year.

Tech is really good, but the UGA game was probably not the best example of their offense, UGA's defense was HORRIBLE, NO TACKLING!!!

I'm not saying that LSU's defense is better, but any team could have made many of those tackles, seems to me that alot of the UGA players were trying to make the KNOCK OUT HIT.

Hmmm... I think I vaguely remember hearing that somewhere else...

I actually like that one, because it also gives the Bback enough time to get into pitch relationship.

My favorite play of that game (schemewise) was an option look to run left, and as Nesbitt got near the left edge of the field he throws back across the field to the Bback who floated across to the right side of the field and used the WR on that side to pick up the 1st down (can't find a video of it though)

Wow - I was complaining about our tackling! That was piss poor by UGA!

I agree with the tackling observation.

Maybe fresh bodies help this as we saw this multiple times this year from otherwise good secondaries. I can only think part of this comes from them getting weary after having WR's and AB's taking their legs out play after play. They are not used to being blocked and it wears them down.

So...instead of taking the ball carrier to the ground defenders try to knock them out of bounds.

Also...Dwyer is hard to bring down at 235 lbs. and excellent speed.

But...you are 100% correct...good tackling negates most all of those big plays.

We are worse at tackling than UGA

It was the right tackle, Austin Barrick, who is a former TE. The set was tackle-eligible with both WR's on the line to the left. Tech had used the set a lot this year and some friends and I had commented on how it made the tackle eligible and sooner or later we'd see that used.

Barrick didn't get the 1D -- should've had it easily but he hesitated and tried to pick his way through the defense rather than bulling through them. I think if he does get the 1D then GT goes up 42-28 and wins going away as UGA mails it in. PJ was PISSED at Barrick.

That was actually a tackle, not the B-Back. He had previously been playing TE when Gailey was at GT. I thought it was some nice trickery and a pretty good throw on Josh's part. Although, it was considered a run since it was a backwards pass.

Sounds like a one trick pony. I don't see how you could successfully run that play more than once against a semi-intelligent defense that adjusts.

...and that is a high risk pass east/west in the backfield.

well it's normally a run play or a throw downfield, the throwback was the wrinkle

right, ok i remember about being short of the 1st down now, but do you know of a more detailed youtube link of the highlights? the only ones i've found are just the scoring plays.

damn, UGA's defense might be worse at tackling than LSU's. that run at the :41 mark should have been stopped after about 5 yards
