Respectable post but realization 8 months too late. Kind of like holding a losing stock too long. Inaction incurs real costs. Some times you just have to cut your losses.
In LSU's case, the administrations inaction last year cost us our only chance at Jimbo Fisher. There would be now way he would come back now after we allegedly pulled the rug out from under him at the last minute.
Further, even though a Tom Herman might be a better option, he's a really smart dude. And coaching circles are very small. So who knows if he'd even want to get involved with our administration.
So, our options will be significantly more limited due to how things went down last year and the realization now that holding onto Les was a mistake.
We are screwed...potentially for a while.

I'm with you OP, this could be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Yea that BS that happened last year feels like something that takes a program down for a while..... I hope I'm wrong.

People like you, who cheered on Miles as he was carried off the field after beating A&M, are partly responsible for this wasted season
Rather than the closing memory of the Les Miles era being his triumphant ride off the field after victory, it looks like it'll be an embarrassing 7-5 season filled with frustration and regret. Alleva/Alexander/Jindal/whoever-the-frick-else-was-involved deserve to be tarred and feathered colonial style for this.

The only way miles and cam can hope to save their jobs now, is to make a change at qb and lsu runs the table. Otherwise Bring in a young offensive mind like Herman.

Miles just might retire, who knows.
Why would he give up guaranteed millions because of what anyone thinks about him?
He may be stupid but he is not that stupid.

bullshite.... That may have been you but it certainly wasn't the majority at least according to news interviews.

I don't think last year's non action is stressed enough and how it will set us back for years - potentially. The boat has sailed getting Jimbo so we have to look elsewhere. He won't play the role of 'I'll wait here til you really want to take me to the dance.' It is a wasted year and just helping cement LSU as a 3rd-4th place team IN the division.

Sure, we all got a little fooled by the offseason hype that kept flowing nonstop (I think even the most negative of negatigers had at least a glimmer of hope for this season). But flashing back to the end of last year, it was abundantly clear that Les' best days are far behind him.
No matter what news interviews say, I believe that the vast majority of tiger fans were ready to see a forced retirement last year

That would be too honorable. He's passed on similar opportunities. Ain't happening. Still pissed at the man since 1-9-12. No - I don't forget.
He should've been fired 1 minute after that game. A perfect season down the drain, because he is hard headed.

This s false. The decision to keep Miles was made at halftime, apparently because the targeted replacement was not going to pan out.

Best chance for Herman, we need Texas to win today and Houston to lose to Louisville later this season.
Would be a home run hire.
We need to hope that the Big XII skips over Houston as well. If Houston joins the Big XII, I don't see Herman leaving. I have heard the school President, the AD, etc. talk and they know what college sports means to the University of Houston. With Big XII money, Herman will make Houston the next Baylor. In addition, Houston has Tilman Fertitta on their Board of Regents. He is a billionaire restauranteur that is pouring money into U of H.

Herman gets a $5 million bonus if they make it to the Big XII. Houston assuredly would have that contigent on his staying.

Miles is a con artist. Don't let the lovable retard act fool you. I watched him play this town last November the way Eric Clapton plays a Strat.

Both Miles and Cameron are stuck in 1975 and they are unable to change. I am not sure if they know anything different. On top of that bath are extremely old fashioned and conservative.
Posted on 9/4/16 at 10:10 am to KwoodTiger
I believe Herman is a pipe dream. Why would he leave the city of Houston for Saban and the SEC West? Louisiana isn't the best place to recruit to if you haven't noticed. I fear for the long term future of the university. The state is fubr.

gonna need a satchel charge to move Miles out of the Football Offices...he'll be 6-6 this year and on the phone with JBE begging for another year

I admittedly have been one of Miles' biggest supporters and thought the way the end of last season played out was distasteful and thought Miles had earned a chance to have another season to address the deficiencies in his team.
Glad you have finally seen the light most of us saw years ago. Takes a special person to stand by this bumbling clueless coach for this long.
