I did not have the chance to make the trip but was excited about watching the game on TV. Then the opportunity to go to BR and help flood victims came up. I struggled with going but felt led to go and help. I am so glad I made that decision. Seeing how so many have lost so much really opened my eyes.

It is just a game. While it is a game I played (through high school only) and have loved my whole life, it is just a game. A game that would have put me in a funk for a week has been put in perspective. I will always cheer on LSU and make the games that I can, there is so much more to life. Don't let it spoil your week. Be a light to someone in need - it will be as much or more rewarding to you than the person/family you helped.

Look - we appreciate your effort. But are you seriously going to come in here and preach to people who had water in their homes? Are you serious? This is my distraction from all the crap I still have to deal with. I've gutted several houses as well. This is no place for that talk.

Yeah, a game, team, and state that I love! LSU football is one of the only things that keeps me tied to Louisiana(I live in Virginia) and to have such a inferior underachieving head coach ruin that makes me ill. You can go play with your pixies and rainbows while I stayed pissed off the rest of this week!

I appreciate your perspective. There are so many things so much more important in low than whether your team wins or loses a football game. I love LSU football and I am upset as hell that Les Miles still coaches this team when it is obvious that the game has passed him by many years ago. But it helps to be reminded that there are other things that are way more important than football. Thank you.

It's great you feel this way. I hope most of us don't let this game ruin our entire lives.

But this is a message board about this game. The reason this board exists, is because LSU football. This is a place where people can vent and bitch and get it out.
People can discuss and share their opinions.

That's all.

Personally I keep thinking about the family of a young man, a poster here, who died Thursday at his own hand and was buried Saturday. His family surely would tell you life is bigger than football ... and their son was the President of the Acadiana Tiger Alumni Association. So it's not like they weren't aware of the "importance" of LSU football.

How did you get that out of what he said? Pretty sure he was doing exactly the opposite. I seriously doubt most of the raging lunatics on here are people dealing with flooded houses.

If something you have no control over are your distraction then you need to find a way to get over any negative results quickly, like realizing it's only a game.

Definitely didn't want to upset anyone impacted by the flood. Was hoping that those of us that aren't can do something positive for so many in need. Again, I apologize if I offended anyone.

My hope was to maybe inspire those going this weekend to take time to volunteer or donate.
