Yes, we may have been in the same setting last night. This was more intense than at anytime before Miles was fired.
I mentioned the same thing earlier in another thread that this is nothing more than a power game.

You are correct. I am from La. But have been living in Texas for the past 9 years. Texas isn't perfect but they have it going on. Texas is a country , not a state. It doesn't need the rest of the country. It by itself has the 15th strongest economy in the world. It has plenty going for it. Where as La. should be flying the skull and crossbones over the capital in B.R. The La. Politicians care only about filling their pockets and stealing tax payers money. The present administration at LSU is no different. And that is shameful. I wasn't like this when I went to school there. God bless LSU and God help LSU.

Yeah, blame JBE. He's been gov for how long?

This is so clear to anyone who pays close attention to la politics... As soon as JBE appointed 3 trial lawyers (his biggest donors who were afraid of Vitter's tort reform) to the BOS... I knew LSU was absolutely fricked.
LSU will always be a pawn, until we can organize.
Someone should point out the trouble makers.
The decline began while Jindal was Gov. Stop trying to bring your politically skewed view of life into this discussion.

Would it be time to "drain the swamp"?

A little insight from someone who doesn’t post oftenMy profession places me in front of what would be referred to as “major” boosters in both a professional and personal setting. I wouldn’t call myself a major booster, and this isn’t a brag thread. Watching the game last night with several boosters and one board member, the disgust and contempt for LSU, specifically Joe Alleva, administrators such as F. Alexander and certain board memebers, was intense. There was some very real division and heated discussion from different camps last year and especially since the MSU game. Dissenting voices were being silenced. Anyone at the end of last season that spoke out against hiring Orgeron were ignored and have continued to be until this point. Now, the pro Ed camp is turning on each other in an attempt to save face and their positions. These people don’t care about LSU outside of the power generated by holding a high ranking position. Some within our university are attempting to use the school itself as leverage for better positions within the school and out. None wants to accept responsibility. The school has become a highly politicized game where one side plays by different rules than the other. Our school is in danger. It’s not just football. Where do you think JBE gained the confidence to speak publicly about closing the school? It’s a game. And LSU is the means to an end for some. LSU is devoid of any real leadership and those that possess it and have the means to implement real change are being silenced. God Bless our Tigers. Troubling times ahead.

This is going to be the dumbest fricking statement I will ever say... College football needs to be taken out of college.
What I mean is, it needs to be an independent league that has no connections with universities. I know, that wouldn't be college football then... I know that, but college football has evolved into a billion dollar industry. Some big wig fricks who don't know anything or don't care anything about football shouldn't play a factor in the people's team.

the OP has a number of anecdotal truths throughout; for example factions among board members, selfish agendas, etc. These truths can be found on most academic boards and some professional ones. LSU football is one of the biggest cash cows for the state, as a result it brings issues that come with that. We have a head coach who is compromising the Flagship's cash cow; who's to blame and what is the immediate fix? So now, the finger pointing begins

You put a liberal as governor and things go to shite.
Posted on 10/1/17 at 2:16 pm to Theoldgraycoat
So all we have to do is elect a new governor, fire the president, Fire the AD, fire the coach, pay 20 million dollars in buyouts, hire a real coach and we're good?

LADIES AND GENTLEMAN,
the SEMI PRO LSU FIGHTING TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!
with no BOS or academic input!

The people here blaming JBE are completely divorced from reality. The vast majority of cuts to LSU and other schools came under Jindal. JBE would love to give them more money, but the legislature neither wants to raise the funds or make the hard cuts (e.g. closing small under-performing campuses) necessary to do so.

Which means you need an absolute mf’er to keep them all in check

Pretty easy to determine who that might be. . Stanley Jacobs ,Ron Anderson , Robert Yarbrough , Rolfe McColister , Stephen Perry , Blake Chatelain and James Moore All Love dearly LSU.
By a process of elimination who knows the Other Folks well enough to say they love LSU.
For those on this thread that believe infighting etc is on all academic boards. Strong leaders are able to make sure boards are in conflict all the time internally to keep things challenging and to develop strong decisions. But Strong leaders keep boards together.
Did you hear of any BOS problems during Emmert’s rein or with William Jenkins involved. No sir. Same political dynamic.
I don’t suggest the football program decay is rooted in BOS. But I will tell you that it does take a unified leadership to produce quality programs. Academic and athletic.
F King is where it’s starts and ends. He is not a leader and until he is gone our university will struggle in all programs.

Being a graduate of LSU should be a requirement for a position on the BOS! There's no excuse for having Tulane or the graduates of any other school on our governing board. No loyalty results in the temptation for self-dealing.
