A little diddy about LSU's head coach

Ran across this when making sure I had my facts straight while shutting down a liar.

If one play summed up Orgeron's time in Natchitoches, it was against rival Louisiana Tech in 1983, his senior season.
NSU was protecting a lead late in the game. Louisiana Tech faced a fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line. As Tech broke the huddle, the Demon defenders on the other side of the line of scrimmage were in their stances — heads down, cleats dug into the turf, ready for the crash of bodies that could decide the game.
Except for one.
MORE: MARCASE: Orgeron earned the job he always wanted | From Larose to LSU head coach
Ed Orgeron stood straight up, jabbing his thumbs into his barrel chest and bellowing in that deep, gravelly voice that seems to rumble all the way from the pit of his stomach.
"Run the ball at me!" he dared the opposing offense.
Tech did. The play went nowhere.
Orgeron's NSU career is filled with tales like that one, and the more colorful exploits of a man who played as hard off the field as he did on it.

We're going to win the national championship under this man's guidance!

So glad he's "one of us".

Story not entirely accurate. The writer left out the fact that after O said that, he was seen throwing up the Rosy Finch gang sign.

What does this have to do with running a program?

Orgeron admits he had plenty of missteps during his time with the Rebels.
He micromanaged his assistants instead of delegating. He drove players to exhaustion. He had everyone in the program walking on eggshells by insisting they match his own manic energy level. He treated the media as an adversary.
quote:
"You don't have to worry about me," Orgeron likes to joke with LSU fans now, "because I made all my mistakes in Mississippi.
Liar.
Amirite Ree?

I've got a friend that is known to get a little intoxicated and talk a lot of trash (or maybe the other way around). He had an encounter with Ed in the bathroom at an NSU game and got slammed up against the wall.
Probably around '86 or so - I think O was a coach or maybe just back visiting.

Man what a warrior. I’m so glad we were able to fight off all those other schools trying to hire him as their head coach. Great work alleva. I know it was a tough ride considering all the head coaching offers he had. Those interim records were incredible. Good job alleva. So happy to have a coveted coach like orgeron

Thanks for posting this. I use that all the time and couldn't remember where it came from. People even ask me "A little diddy?" and I tell them it is a "story" but I don't know where it came from.

I know he will beat bama next year. If only I knew he had a tackle for loss against la tech sooner I would have never doubted his coaching ability. Geaux Eaux. We comin

Or "Hotlips" as they refer to him on the UT message boards.
Or Kissing-bandit as he is known on this board.
