Of course not. But Im smart enough to recognize that you have to get there for the game to play out that way.

then what is the problem? The coaches blew it, the fans were upset, that is why people were mad. You understand the path to get there, but you cant understand this?

yes, they are definitely spoiled no doubt. but i think any fan base would be upset to get shut out in the national title game, coming off the best season in school history.

Had we lost and the coaches actually put us in position to win, I doubt there would be as much backlash. Think about it. We went out bad. It wasn't just the fans, the players were even grumbling. Even when Miles made stupid in game decisions in the past, the players have kept quiet. This game was different.

Well -- I'd say some certainly have.

Your point?

I have to agree with the OP that fan negativity around the LSU program is a problem and is noticed by recruits, players and coaches.

For the most part I think coaches largely shrug it off and go about their business. To a slightly lesser degree... players do the same.

Recruits --- because they are not yet "insiders" to the program are in my opinion the ones that hear and see the negativity the most ... and some in fact will decide to go elsewhere in some part because of it.

Bigger role than anyone here thinks or wants to believe. Lots of denial here, even by the guy who runs the site.

The same coaches who went 13-0? The same coaches who lost to a team that got a mulligan? Those coaches?

Yes, the coaches share some of the blame, but if things were as bad as most here would love to see, the program would be in total disarray.

LSU's program, despite being one of dozens of programs to lose a NCG, is in great shape. Thank the coaches for that.

I bet this goes unanswered as no examples of how it helps can be given.

I can give at least one factual example of how its already hurt.

Simple question, were you happy with the way 1/9/12 played out?

No it reminded me off the 1960 Sugar Bowl but I got over it.

You must've read the Ponamsky line huh?

People are going to be negative regarding what happened in the National Championship, and pretty much what happened the entire month of January. It's human nature. It doesn't help, but it certainly doesn't hurt as much as some of you tardo's make it out to.

Maybe you should follow North Korean soccer or something where everything is positive, or you get shot in the head.

Here we go again, another bitch session thread.

To all the haters, I offer you the following advice: Embrace Les Miles for what he is and cherish the chaos he creates because:
(1) It's been pretty damn good so far.
(2) there is no viable alternative and
(3) you are only causing yourself pain by continually hating (the every once and a while cathartic vent rant is okay but continual pounding is destructive to you and others)

just my $0.02

Yep and it has to stop or we will be 6-6 soon enough.

I mostly just read and lurk. Would a fan base have any effect on a recruit, it would be silly to say no, but I’m sure it’s minimal. Recruits talk to players on the team and that has A LOT bigger effect on their decision. They watched the same game we did and I promise you heard from players what happened before the game (anyone who knows someone on the team did). That is what hurt this recruiting class.

I wouldn't go this far....

Seriously. Those days are gone for now.

The fact that we won 24 games the past two seasons says a lot about what our coaching staff has done.

It would take a lot to get us back to 6-6.

I could understand if it stopped with that, but it goes way beyond.
I've seen and heard fans accuse the coaching staff of fighting over QBs, Miles of having a personal vendetta against Lee, players of causing mutiny in the locker room. I've seen and heard fans openly criticize recruits or push their agenda of this coaching staff failing to play better players because their favorite QB didn't play. Posters here have even pushed for players or recruits to leave.

Those kind of sentiments and rumors spread quickly among this fanbase and it absolutely has an affect greater than most realize.

I can see why players get upset. They put their blood sweat and tears into their work. THEIR WORK. Same for the coaches who get paid a lot for doing so.

What do we fans put into it. Yeah we pay, and were provided with a great product by any measure. How do we show our thanks for the 13 great weekends they provided for us? Bitching and moaning. You clowns think the coaches and the players know less than you do?

Fans from "other" teams have enjoyed watching our dumbarse behavior more so than watching us lose on 1/9. The alters have been everywhere fanning the flames of dissention, yet so many here dont even notice cause they are to busy complaining.

Recruits have taken notice of our negativity, so have the players and coaches.

well, it's wep pages like this one that give those fan's a voice to the masses. I think that is more of the problem. You don't give them a voice. limit them to talk radio.

This web page makes it's money by having lsu as it's product. Yet, it assists in destroying that product. If you have a page like this, it should be monitored heavily.

IMO, the negativity is destroying us from within.

If you actually believed this, then the absolute worst thing you could do is point it out...for the billionth time.

If we actually had one negative fan for every time some "fan" bitches about negative fans, the negative fans of LSU would outnumber the entire world population.

I have never, ever, in my life seen anyone bitch about anything as often and as redundantly as you people bitch about the "negative fans" of LSU.

When I'm really disgusted with someone, I usually don't talk to and about them every single second of my life. What's hilarious is that you idiots who always bitch about the fans have no clue that you are exactly like the very people you are bitching about. There is not one single solitary ounce of meaningful difference between you and someone who sits in the stands and cusses Miles the whole game. Not one single solitary ounce.

Yes a good portion of LSU fan base sucks. The majority of those fans are also stupid and likely did not attend LSU. These are the same people who think Miles was a great coach all season, but now think he sucks.

LSU has a TON of fans. Louisiana is not a state where there are 2+ schools vying for attention. So may even have more people who are LSU fans that did not attend LSU than did. And of those who did not and are fans, many of them didn't attend any college. I'm just saying that there are a lot of dumb LSU fans (not that everyone who didn't attend college is dumb, I'm not saying that). Dumb fans are not necessarily the best fans to have, they don't understand it all.

So you want a united optimistic fanbase that will move away from negativity?

And you thought the best way to accomplish this was by saying that the people with differing opinions suck? I'm torn between and

I think that maybe the fanbase is more torn about by stupidity than negativity.

I wouldn't go as far as to say that about the LSU fan base. It's probably no better or worse than it is at any other SEC school other than Vandy. As both a Bama AND LSU follower/fan, I see a lot of passion in both fan bases and sometimes frustration over an event or 2 creates a reaction not normally seen. Of course, there's always gonna be, imho, a group of fans that ain't happy unless they're bitshin about everthing.

In every possible measurable index of fan base performance, LSU fans are at or near the top of the country, and have outperformed LSU teams on the field in about 50 of the last 55-60 years.

Yet this "easily the worst fan base in the country" is frequently used BY SO-CALLED LSU FANS to describe one of the best fan bases in the country. If there is a more surefire indicator of absolute stupidity than to say this about LSU fans, I have yet to see or hear it.
