A Few Questions and Comments for the Board

I was at the game and have not been on here too much in the aftermath. I have a few questions that I am sure have been answered in other places.
1) There were a few flags thrown against BAMA that were "picked up." Were any of them legit calls that were over ruled by "bug eyes?"
On the last BAMA drive of regulation there was a third down pass play to Jones that got them inside the 25. We were in the South End Zone and as the play unfolded, Jones went to the ground to make the catch. The Line Judge, the side judge, the back judge all came running in but no one made a signal. They were each looking at each other waiting for someone to make a call and when no one did the Line Judge just spotted the ball and ran back to the sideline.
2) Why didn't LSU call TO right there to set up a review?
3) was it a catch? or did he trap the ball?
After BAMA made the game tying FG the entire stadium and LSU team went dead like the game was over. When LF half assed returned the KO and almost got killed in the process the BAMA fans and sidelines erupted. The game was over right there and what happened in OT didnt really matter, we were done.

The replay was inconclusive either way. Whatever was called on the field would have stood.
Picked up flags were fine.

Picking up the flag for PI was probably the right call. The other one looked legit.

I don't think the coaches saw the replay in time. They weren't going to overturn it anyway.

Looked like a trap.
My two biggest issues with the refs were the incredible amount of off-the-ball pushes (and a punch) that Bama got away with and the numerous missed facemasks (including the one where they ripped Jennings' facemask off).

bama going down the field in 50 seconds with no time outs sucked the life out of the stadium

I agree with this 100%. I still don't know wtf LF was doing, he was just kind of trotting with the ball with no steam. From the bama fumble to the end of the game was just a monumental shitstorm I can't comprehend.

I have a question.
Was bama's TD drive in regulation the same drive that welter played? Ive already deleted the game from my DVR

Fournette ran well against a really tough D, but we should probably look at other options for returning kicks. He has decent returns that go to the 25-30 yard line, but with LSU's offense, kick/punt returns are our one chance to break a long one for a TD and Fournette has not been close to breaking any big ones this year (of course, we haven't actually returned a kickoff in Tiger Stadium for a TD in forever, but I'm just talking about a long return). Our punt returning hasn't been real swift either.

the PI coming down our sideline towards the South End Zone was a terrible call and should have been picked up. There was another penalty in the 1st half in the NE corner of the field that was also picked up but I have no idea what it was for
quote:There was no replay for them to see in the stadium. The catch was never replayed on the big screens, even after BAMA spiked the ball to stop the clock. The only replay they could have seen was on the TV monitors in the coaching booth and I think CBS only ran those after the BAMA had already spiked the ball

Seeing CamRob play in person was hilarious. I know he is hurt, but all he does is stand up and wrap his arms around the DE and bear hug. He did it over and over again

it kind of looked like he wasnt sure if he should return it or not. like the clock hitting 00s meant that regulation was over even without the final whistle.

The holding that bama gets away with is criminal. they were grabbing LSU DE's by their arms and pulling them. same with lacouture

I agree about the LF kickoff return. What the hell was he doing? It was like he was barely jogging. I actully thought that a whistle must have blown and the play was dead. That was until the Bama player knocked the crap out of him. That total lack of effort on his part was pathetic. He has no business returning kicks as he just does not ever do it very well.

Yes there TD drive was when Beckwith was out.

quote:I'm still not convinced that LF should have been back in the back after Collins rolled his arse. On 2 separate occasions after that hit they showed LF and he looked like he had a tough time standing up.

There was a post on here yesterday that shows a picture of that catch and the ball is clearly on the ground . We had 1 time out left should have used it and challenged the catch.

Welter was no longer playing when this drive began...Beckwith was back

I don't know, but Fournette has had 20 returns this year and averaged 23.5 per return. Magee has had our only other return and he has our longest of the year at 49 yards. The coaches should be able to see that some tweaking is in order.
