A couple things to like about Ed Orgeron versus Les Miles

1) He is willing to change. Unlike his predecessor, Orgeron is willing to change strategy, scheme, personnel, whatever it takes to get better. He and his staff are constantly looking at ways to fix problems they identify. Orgeron seems to say, "let's find a better way to do it." That's a fresh approach from Les Miles who would say "we're gonna do the same things with the same people, we just need to do them better."

2) He seems to get it that great teams are built from the lines out. He has mentioned many times his desire to recruit and build better personnel on both sides of the line. Miles was enamored with 4 and 5-star WRs, RBs, and DBs and failed to recruit top-talent big men and LBs. It looks like Orgeron realizes where his recruiting efforts must focus.

3) He answers the damn question. He may not be willing to give out info in some cases, but he actually answers questions from reporters and from folks during his call in show. It's a nice change from Miles-speak.

You're going to get down-voted a lot on this one.

(insert bass drum joke)

Seriously, I'm sure him being a total disaster at OM has something to do with that. What choice does he have but to change?

Whether you want to admit it or not, Miles was moderately successful before LSU and even more so in the first half of his tenure here.

Unfortunately for him though, when you've experienced early success, it's difficult to realize that there may be a better way to do things later down the line. The game passes people by.

That's a little different from someone that's still trying to get his bearings in the world of head coaching.

We've had plenty of good linemen in Miles tenure.

Apparently as long as the head coach admits that we suck, we are okay with sucking.

He does all that except coach better than Miles.

You left out the most important factor.

While Miles' lines were usually the best things about his offenses.

As someone who was incredibly ready for miles to leave , the ed O hire was lazy, stupid, and as shortsighted as possible.

Alleva might as well just spit in the face of every LSU fan.

No matter what, attention to detail is what makes a successful coach. Understanding exactly what you have, don't have, and what every opponent has is a requirement to be successful. Not letting mistakes go unaddressed in practice. Being cognizant of the small things on game day. No matter what, I don't think that Ed O has this trait.

I am neutral on every coach until I see the body of their work. So far Ed O's body of work has a specific pattern that manifests from a lack of attention to detail. That is why after 2 years of frustration we will be in the hunt again for a new coach.

Come on now. You have done a good job showing that the offensive line has highly rated recruits playing on it, but don't deny that the 2014 and 2015 defensive line classes were abysmal.

I also might add. I know a couple of assistant coaches of Saban through the years. When Bama screws up and Saban looks fiery and pissed, it's almost always because it was something they addressed in practice and someone screwed up at their job of addressing it (whether it be the guy on the field or the guy in charge).

One thing that I thought was interesting about Saban's style is he does not get pissed at his guys if it's something they didn't work on or address, because in his mind "that's on him for not thinking about it first". Say what you want about him, he believes heavily in personal accountability and that's another reason why they are so successful.

And that's exactly what he did, but the "he's one of us" clowns were allowed to carry the day as opposed to the, "frick no, we don't want O" silent majority.
