9 SEC Games: 4 Home, 4 Away, 1 Neutral Site

I know one of the issues with 9 SEC games is that half the teams will have 5 Home and the other half will have 5 away games.

What about finding 7 neutral sites in SEC country and have a “neutral site” weekend for the conference.

Neutral sites
NOLA
Atlanta
Houston
St. Louis
Nashville
Orlando
Dallas

How do you decide who you play at the neutral site?

And all of those "neutral sites" aren't very neutral unless you don't have LSU playing in NOLA, A&M playing in Houston, etc.

It's not the worst idea I've seen. I just don't know how it would work.

ETA: The Dome in St Louis is not good enough to be considered for hosting these games.

Neutral site games would be against non division opponents.

Add KC or Miami could also be options. I think you could easily schedule around LSU in NOLA or UGA in Atlanta and so on.

It's not a big issue in the Big 10 or Pac 12, and it shouldn't be an issue in the SEC.

I think Neutral site games would be cool. Especially when we play Top Dogs like Tennessee Georgia and Florida and maybe even SCAR if they keep up relevancy.

But Kentucky, Missouri, and Vanderbilt would be boring.

Just alternate the East-West home game for the 9th game.

So, one year ALL East division has 5 home and 4 away and the next year ALL West has it.

Therefore, no division rival has an advantage and the winner of each division is going to play in the SEC Champ game. So, no biggie there.

Don’t really like the idea but it’s an interesting discussion as to who would be the most interesting/logical annual neutral site opponents:
Auburn-Bama
State-Ole Miss
UF-UGA
LSU-Ark
mizzou-vandy
Tennessee-Kentucky
A&M-SC

Maybe swap LSU for SC and have LSU-A&M and SC-Ark

We should be playing Miami in Tiger Stadium, it would be sold out. Then, play them down there.

UF-UGA and Arkansas-A&M are already played at neutral sites, so you can cross those teams off the list. That said, if the SEC went to 9 games, it would probably work out to where most of the other 10 teams would play a road/neutral site nonconference game in years with 5 SEC home games, and play all nonconference games at home in years with 4. That would be a good way to set up home and homes with other Power 5 teams.

Money is too important to have nuetral site games. $$$$home games are very important to these teams.

The ultimate solution is moving to a pod setup that that switches your pairings in even and odd years.

Imagine this:

Pod A: UF, UGA, SCAR
Pod B: UT, Bama, AU
Pod C: LSU, A&M, MSU, Ole Miss
Pod D: Mizzou, UK, Arky, Vandy

In even years, the divisions are as follows:

Division 1: Pod A+C (UF, UGA, SCAR, LSU, A&M, MSU, Ole Miss)

Division 2: Pod B+D (UT, Bama, AU, Mizzou, UK, Arky, Vandy)

In Odd years, the small pods switch places:

Division 1: Pod B+C (UT, Bama, AU, LSU, A&M, MSU, Ole Miss)

Division 2: Pod A+D (UF, UGA, SCAR, Mizzou, UK, Arky, Vandy)

Then your 8 game schedules becomes your pod, that year's pod pair, and half of the teams in the other pod your size. It's sounds complicated, but it's easy and looks like the following:

That’s the games that made our stadium tough. We need to get rid of the neutral sites and give the casual fan what they want.

This idea should be taken behind a shed and shot. You know if his happens Bama will be playing neutral site games against Kentucky and Vandy until Saban retires. Shoot it.

How about this

12 games
Only Power 5
6 home games (5 SEC games one year, 4 the next)
6 away games (5 SEC games one year, 4 the next)

I don't like neutral site games at all really unless it's a bucket list-type game...Lambeau.

I feel 12 homes games a year for LSU would be very equitable for everyone.
