8-4 & 9-3 is not good enough

You see with what Surtain said today, “Alabama wins championships” kids want to go to a school where they not only have a chance to play, but also where they have a chance to win. We don’t win anymore, we’re no longer in the hunt of the SEC by week 6, we’re constantly an afterthought.
I’m so fricking tired of getting excited about football season only to have us bow out of the NC hunt by week 6. It’s embarrassing to the school to put so much money into a program only to have marginal results at best.
This is not LSU circa 1996 anymore. We’re past that stage and are a national program with a brand name. 8-4 and 9-3 may as well be a 5-7 record with the talent that has come through Baton Rouge in the last few years and you see that with the talent we have put in the NFL.
We’re circling the toilet right now due to complacency. We will never make it back to another meaningful game with the upper echelon that we have now. That starts with the governor and works all the way down to the head coach. Mediocrity is unacceptable and if you think 8-4 and 9-3 is good enough then you are the problem and you have a loser’s mentality.
Good enough is no longer good enough for LSU football.

It wasn’t good enough with Miles, but now that the Cajun rougarou is coach, a bunch of fricktards are calling it success.

I suspect coach O agrees with you

I suspect the only thing Orgeron really cares about is continuing to cash those fat arse LSU checks for as long as he possibly can. Where the hell else is that clown going to make THAT much money...doing anything?

Keep moving those goalposts. 2011 Miles didn’t cry about the 2nd toughest schedule in the country, he won 11 games.
Now O pumpers are using it as an excuse to suck.

Exactly, I have never heard of any organization ever firing somebody with the expectations of the same or worse output.
We essentially have done that. Which makes this deal even more idiotic.
We fricking hired a guy who couldn’t even get an interview at Syracuse...SYRACUSE

So you think 8-4 plus a win in a shitty bowl game is a good year?

we'll be 3-5 heading into the bama bye week. book it

Spoiled much..... you know how many other schools in the country can say this... yes that's right a ton of them.... you are acting like we belong in the top 5 EVERY year... that just don't happen unless your Bama...

It's good that the Rant didn't exist back in the Cholly Mac era. Look at the W/L record the last six years of the legendary coach:
1974: 5-5-1
1975: 4-7
1976: 6-4-1
1977: 8-4
1978: 8-4
1979: 7-5
I know Oeux isn't any great shakes as a coach, but this board really needs a sense of proportion.

How does the LSU football program pre-Orgeron compare to the same program pre-Mac?
Apples to oranges.

You don't know that. I'm sure you insisted the Tigers would finish 3-9 after the loss to *gasp* Troy.

I don't see 9 wins next year unless our new OC is really a sleeping giant, hard to see that at this point.
Posted on 2/7/18 at 1:20 pm to mwade91383
Well he set records when he was the temp OC in 2016... but he had better weapons that season than he will this season.....

Of course 8-4 and 9-3 aren’t good enough. But with next years schedule and the unknown production from a semi inexperienced offense, even those seem like an absolute best case scenario.
I hate to see LSU struggle on the football field but I think it’ll be a long season. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.
