Hurd has been very disappointing so far. Dude has no command out of the stretch and can’t throw strikes. Pitching is underwhelming so far outside of Skenes.

It's not a matter of whether the game is lost, it's a matter of having to rely on your bullpen for seven innings on the back half of a doubleheader on essentially a Sunday because your starter can't get anybody out.
That's no good. It's trouble. If it doesn't get fixed we're going to lose games we didn't expect.

I'm taking a long view. Week 2 isn't dispositive if the season. We're either going to be 3-3 or 4-2 in the league by midnight; either way we're still in the hunt.
The real issue is getting guys to fill roles, and this was not that.
We have to stick with him at this point because we can't afford to cannibalize the bullpen when we're still trying to sort that out.
We can maybe just try to outhit people, and we can do a lot of that obviously, but that's how you can run into trouble in the postseason. Sometimes the ball just finds gloves, or the wind blows in, and you can't just blow up the scoreboard.
