Agree, but also let them pay their school bill, housing and all of perks they get as players, from that money. Will get them ready for reality.

How do players sign NIL deals without agents?

In a few years, the 3rd string center will likely be making more money than 75% of the stadium. So, yes.

Of course they're a revenue generating business...its about time the players get their cut. Players put their body's on the line for what, an education? Nah, pay them for their services. They bring in $160 million a yr just in football

Wow so much missing on this take.

Are you ok with kicking players off scholarship and the team who under perform ? I mean it’s a business and all now right ?

This whole thing is so absurd and crazy this is worst than nfl . At least you sign contracts , have caps , certain free agency period and times, a time when you can be traded in the nfl. This is now the wild Wild West , a player can get paid to go to lsu then leave anytime and go to another school who then pays him more and there are no rules. He can then leave for another school
Mid season because another school pays him . shite I say we sponsor “pay “ an opposing teams best player during game week so we don’t have to face him and he sits out the game against us .

Exactly it will not continue like this some parameters have to be set, it will take all parity out of the sport. At this time if a billionaire who wants to support “college x” and give every five star at every position a million to sign, why could he not get the top talent across the country and dominate??

At this point why even pretend that they are college students.

Just acknowledge that they are revenue generating entertainment.

They've been generating revenue for decades. Now, they get some of it. I don't understand how this is a bad thing?

The NCAA brought this upon themselves those greedy old men University Presidents, AD, Administration . They could have avoided all of this by agreeing to split the money with the athletes but they were so greedy everyone lost out now it’s a free for all bidding war .

It’s not a bad thing if they get a piece of the pie. That’s not what’s happening though. These kids are being shopped, poached, and delivered to the highest bidder. There’s no regulations in place so schools with the most money will hoard all of the top players. If you thought college football popularity was dropping around the country, just give this new system a few years.

It’s absurd. Imagine cutting a Soph RB to make room for a star transfer. That kid just lost the ability to get a degree for free because he wasn’t quite good enough to start but was a great backup. Very slippery slope

I couldn’t care less how much a guy is getting paid, it’s the pay to play thing for me. School A is offering $150K, school B is offering $200K, that school B is going to win more battles than they typically would.

Agreed, not a good or sustainable business model, and the worst part is the carnage will be student athletes, this thing is just a mess.

That has always been the case, i mean many will get degrees... but the universities and NCAA raked in billions and, at least officially, the players just got a discount coupon to the company store.

Hell, if the athletic dept could pay directly, they could give every LSU scolarship football player a 500k annual check and still pull a profit in the sport.

All the things professional athletes can afford?

Wow. Really provocative stuff.
