This game was a perfect example of the importance of the final 4 min of the 1st half & the first 4 min of the 2nd half. Game was tied 14-14 closing in on halftime. LSU scored shortly before half then FSU turned the ball over immediately. LSU scored a TD on the first play to go into half up 28-14 and then opened the 2nd half with a TD drive. Went from a 14-14 nail biter to a 35-14 blowout just like that. Always seemed like LSU got destroyed in this scenario during BK’s tenure. Much of it due to him always electing to receive the ball just to go out there and have a 3 and out with a garbage arse vanilla offensive scheme

I was there north end zone, 14 years old. Cemented my fandom that night hurling oranges on to the field. Can remember it like it was yesterday. Thank you Thomas Ann and Ed!

How about Paul Hornung doing the play by play and Jim Taylor providing color commentary.

I was there and rushed the field afterwards. Ended up standing on the crossbar of the goal post as everyone tried to tear it down.

That was an awesome night! Was that the only time we’ve ever beaten FSU? I really hate them!

I too was there. What I’d forgotten was how really good that team was. Offense with Hilliard, receiver and two O linemen went to the NFL and Risher was a very good college QB. The entire D line, one of the linebackers, and three DBs wound up in the NFL. Should have never lost a game that year. Really good team.

I was still at LSU.

We sat at the top.of the student section to avoid getting pelted by oranges.

Something about bad throws by drunk kids.

One of my all time favorite games as a kid. We all walked in with bags of oranges and no one cared.

In the 70’s you could bring ice chests full of beer.

Before my time, but I love this video. How non-corporate and raw everything was. Mike scalping the Indian lol

The fans were so out of control while storming the field, police were advising fans as they passed in the tunnel toward the grass to enter at their own risk. Bottles, cups, oranges, ice, and rented stadium seats were being thrown. Really wild atmosphere and no one left early. The "Mike" mascots of the 1960s-80s had character. They were funny. Today? Not so much.

That's the type of Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium we all remember and loved.

Was there in the upper West. Mother had just got her season tickets thru the alumni system, or TAF or whatever it was called. Good tickets, about three rows up. Took my sister, we had a blast. Don't remember the mascot fight though.
