A&M First Bowl victory since 2014, first 9-win season since 2013.

Gator Bowl MVP Trayveon Williams ran for 236 yards and three touchdowns, smashing a 30-year-old school record, and the Gator Bowl record, and carrying No. 21 Texas A&M to a 52-13 victory against North Carolina State in the Gator Bowl on Monday night.

Williams ran for 829 yards and eight scores during Texas A&M’s final four games, all wins. His performance against the Wolfpack gave him 1,760 yards for the season, topping Darren Lewis’ previous Texas A&M mark of 1,692 set in 1988.

A&M outscored NCS 45-0 in the final 3 qtrs

A&M has most complete performance of year in 52-13 win

quote:

I would probably have to say in all three phases and learning to come out and finish a game. We kept talking about at halftime, once we get ahead, try not to give the other team hope, and I know that sounds crazy, but when you kind of let up and a team gets back, and anytime they get within two scores if not three scores, you give them hope, and they're back in the game. And it was one of the most dominant performances from that standpoint and learning to just play the next play. Whatever you made, okay, go make another play, go make another play, go make another play, and learning that mentality.

quote:

You know, and I'm going to say this: Practice. Practice, and the kids learning to be coached, wanting to be coached. There's a difference between practice and wanting to be coached. You can practice and not want to be coached. It's tough. Those guys want to be coached. They want to learn. All the little things that Mike and the defensive staff did to put in place, and I think our pass rush, I think we started getting rushed. I think we started affecting them that way, guys studying film, learning how to prepare for a game, learning all the details like he just said, and that's something they like to do in that situation and trusting your eyes and playing. And our guys just worked hard, and our coaches did a heck of a job developing those guys. Like you say, nothing is ever created in one day. It takes time, and things happen. You've got to have trials and tribulations, and just very proud because that was a heck of a quarterback and a heck of a offensive team that they did a good job against tonight.

Williams also set the single-game rushing record in Gator Bowl history, passing the 216 yards by Syracuse's Floyd Little in 1966. The longest run in the Gator Bowl prior to Williams' 93-yarder was 69 yards by Florida State's Leon Washington in 2005.

Oh we’re going by small sample sizes?

I watched 9 of their games. They are a different team from where they started and a far different team from last year.

In the other hand we are the same team we were 2 1/2 years ago.

they just stick with the mentality that they will spend more than others - there isn't any reason, at all that they won't be beating Bama.

Nah! After a certain point money gets diminishing returns, and Bama, LSU, Georgia, and TAMU are over that point. No one is going to win by outspending the others.

Case in point: Much is made of Bama using a bunch of analysts. Everyone is copying Saban and catching up, but what innovations is Saban working with now that we’ve yet to hear about? He figured out a legal way to give his players cars. He figured out a way to get around the personal contact limitations by using video teleconferencing. None of these things cost a lot of money. The analysts mostly worked almost for free to get their careers started.

I agree, A&M is now generating more cash than UT and I think everyone else.

Good Thing you live in the past looking in the rearview mirror:

You do know that Saban, Fisher, Smart, AD Scott Woodward were all responsible for making LSU a prominent team again. They are LSU Coaching Greats. Don't act like they are some anti-heros who you can belittle, because you can't. You may b a BigSquirrel but you don't have to act like one.

0-1 vs Fisher

0-6 last three yrs vs Fisher, Saban, Mullen

0 pts vs Saban last 2 games at home with O&E

29-0 worst loss by a top 5 team at home in over 44 yrs

Trayveon Williams on Dec 23:

quote:

Dec 23: "As much as Texas A&M and this university gives us, we don’t want to be selfish and not play in the game,” Williams said. "That doesn’t even cross our minds. Every opportunity we get to wear the maroon and white uniform, we want to do that. That doesn't even cross our mind because we love this university and we love this team. "I definitely feel like the love and true aspect is what drives us to want to go play in that game."

Really? Because they beat NCState?!!! Too funny. Stop. They didn't beat us and the entire country knows that! They are okay and won't be a top 10 recruiting because their campus sucks!. Screw them, and I'm from Texas....

I live less than an hour from Kyle Field. I live, work and go to church with Aggies. I had no less than six Aggies tell me after the game they got lucky and/or we got screwed by the refs. They know they got lucky.

Can’t wait until we get them on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.

That’s what I think could happen with Jimbo. He had top recruiting classes at FSU, and underperformed some years. Also I think recruiting talent in FSU used to be simple, because just about all of the best players in the southeast wanted to go there. I don’t think A&M will be as simple. FSU still gets top classes and underperforms, so that’s the variable. Were some of those underperforming years Jimbo’s fault or something about their culture or something else? If he can be consistently good at A&M, then it indicates that it wasn’t his fault or that he wasn’t the man to rein in their culture. Maybe the culture at A&M will suit him better. I certainly think that he is off to a good start. Hopefully he’ll have the biggest impact on Bama rather than LSU.

We didn’t just get a regular screwing in the A&M game. That was a royal screwing. You sometimes beat a team once and have the call reversed, but I’ve never seen a team beat another so many times, yet have the play reversed. The fumble, the alignment, the time expiration, PI. on Greedy, non-called RB false start. The only legit one was the int reversal. LSU definitely won that game based on fairness, regardless of what the scoreboard showed.
